So what? lulz

Yes, people are entitled to opinions.
But feelings aren't opinions, and the proclamation of feelings as opinions is just a widespread annoyance.
If I were to mention how I hated these hats, it would be a sentiment.
If I were to mention how I loved these hats, it would be a sentiment.
If I were to mention how these hats are very workable for mixing with armor and are thus good hats with provided logical, debatable reasoning, it would be an opinion.
If I were to mention how these hats are not in the halloween spirit with provided logical, debatable reasoning, it would be an opinion. Keep in mind opinions can be wrong and can become facts.
If I were to mention how these hats are stupid and awful, maybe with a touch of stereotypical attribution, it would be a fallacious perception.
By all means, share your sentiments and opinions, but don't use them interchangeably. It just creates a snowball effect where you didn't understand what you wrote, other people don't understand what you wrote, and then everyone argues about something where none of them have any idea what they're actually arguing about.

I was kind of disappointed. Maybe if there was an armor that looked punky and you could use other weapons (ala GW2 guns or something), I'd like the goggles. Glorified glasses don't do much for me. Just like the armor spectacles...those don't fit with the game either imo. But oh well. The cat ears look cute on my bf. lol. I would not wear them though. But that's just me.

Just found this pretty interesting. A little bit of info on the masks. :]
Quote:
Oh and as a bit of insight (because I know there was some debate about it): the two of us came up with those festival hats while trying to build the 40 model sets for the store. For the record, NEITHER were inspired by anime. It's a black cat which has been the familiar to a Halloween witch since at least medieval times (that's before anime was invented, folks) and a set of steampunk-inspired goggles because I love steampunk and thought people would enjoy something they could wear as part of a Halloween costume as well as after the holidays. To answer the question of location, I put it on the forehead because people usually really like seeing their character's faces. However, unfortunately, neither are dyeable because they're masks that allow you to keep your hair - and masks don't have a dye channel on the dervish because that space was originally taken up by their full profession hoods. A helmet, on the other hand, takes up the same space as the hair on the texture. This is why helmets drop the hair. So future masks will not be dyeable, but hats potentially can be... and we will try to minimize the hair loss. Or at least recommend a good trichologist.

Why is it they could get sassis, rangers, and mesmers to have masks and hair, but they couldn't do that for dervishes...
Anet has some really lazy developers.

The 'lazy' card is played too much nowadays.
You really see the Live Team hanging in a chair 'nah, I'd rather watch another episode of this soap opera, don't feel like coding much. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow. Or next week. Whatever.' ?

Actually I would like a bunny costume too, or at least the ears... not like on the picture I just added but in a neat way
on topic... I only just came onto guru (long time I been here) and was very amused to find this topic... that long a topic because of some festival headgear?

Anyways, this was a really cool article - thanks for posting. I actually had thought Kekai had a hand in designing the costumes - nice to see the other ANet artists are dishing out quality work. Looking forward to seeing the upcoming Cantha content!

So the bloody dervishes are the only thing really preventing the masks from being dye-able... >:-(
Since the system they're working under seems so restrictive, I'd like to see them patch it, but with the team size, I suppose that's implausible. :-/

I stand by what I said. The people who made everything pre-derv got it right. The people who designed the dervishes couldn't even copy and paste the right code that was already written for existing classes (paragon crests can't be dyed either).
And of course no one was willing to go back and fix the mistake.

No chance of that being a lie, eh? I'd say that they made that statement to justify their creation in their own minds and hopefully put an end to the massive amount of criticism they're getting. Again: If they had done what they had in past years and added a facepaint or false "nose" to fill out the cat theme, I'd leave this discussion alone. They did not. I stand by my contention that it was indeed meant to appease the anime freaks.
It's a plain fact that the majority of players using these cat ears are fulfilling their weeaboo fantasies in another media form available to them. You can tell from their screen names, character names, avatars, and discussions elsewhere.

Why would they feel the need to hide that if it were true? Given the overwhelming number of pop culture references in the game, many of which are are from anime, I don't think they'd have a problem telling us if indeed it were inspired from anime.

You guessed right.
It's amazing how much hate there has to come just because cat ears, of all things in this world, remind some people of anime. The ONLY ANIME I've ever seen with catears are Loveless, and it doesn't appeal to most people as it is yaoi.
I don't even watch anime.
Seems to me some people just need to hate others who are different than themself. Cat ears to me, doesn't have much to do with anime, I mean. A cat is an animal, and it has well, cat ears. So that's what I relate it to. Yeah, scream at me for being named Nekodesu. Big deal. Well you can scream at me if you actually know what neko desu means.
I guess some people here have had a bad experience with somebody liking anime, just cause I don't. I don't hate ever guy because he watches porn and I don't, now do I? I guess you guys freakin' the hell out of this stuff are some big ass weaboos yourself
I like cute things, and I love cats. Hate me for it. Blarrrggg the rageeeeee.

I really cannot understand all the venom for this anime stuff. Can somebody please explain to me why a lot of people seem to really hate what is essentialy (as far as I can see at least) a bloody cartoon.
Anyone would think you people never watched cartoons when you were younger.
@Neko.. Ok, I'm curious now but what does your username mean anyway?
And yes, I like porn... don't hate meh for it!

Well, I'm not Nekodesu, but I can translate it anyway. It means "[I/he/she/it/you/we/they] am/is/are a cat." Japanese sometimes leaves out the subject.
