I have actually made money lately running chest in HM. I didn't think it was possible at first but I have managed to do it.
Account 1: Runner, Simple no maintenance Avatar of Balthazar, Dash combo with dwarven stability for the chests that spawn on aloes . HM Boreal Station, a mindless zombie can run this. I am just now up to 3,900 chests but have managed to make it less boring. Use mouse to move and click ahead once you take off so you can look at account 2.
Account 2: Sit in Kamadan and sell mods and elite tomes and anything else you don't have time to sit and sell. I have sold tons of things that had gathered dust in my inventory. I usually manage to make more money than i break in lockpicks @ 35% chance.
It still is boring but i just listen to blade radio and strike up chat with random people.

8k of my 10k chests came from golden eggs, if you give up chestrunning and treat it as a festival title that you can only get once a year it becomes alot more reasonable.

What the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO is so hard in getting these titles?
It goes up as you do regular stuff - all titles should be like that.

It is 'hard' maxing them. All in all playing 2500 hrs GW making sure to open every chest I encountered I was able to open 2000-2500 chests. If you want to open the remaining 7500-8000, be prepared to replay areas a lot.

On a daily basis if you managed to open 5 chests from casual play it would take 5.48 years to max the title.
My average casual play involves 1 chest per day.
Many people did not bother with the golden eggs or farm so many to make an impression on the title.
I have maxed the title
How?
Running chests, ignoring casual play and forcing time to run chests instead of HA, or other more interesting things.
It is hard..but once done I did feel a sense personal achievement.

I've played 7000+ hours and I've not maxed them, but it is close. Of course for the first couple of years I wasn't buying keys and go open chests regularly.
The last year I've opened more chests than the 3 years before combined.
Now - these 2 titles are hardcore titles.
The problem isn't for them to be hardcore titles - the problem is Anet coming out and saying "We will give bonuses for every titles or whatever". That stops maxing these titles optional (they still are optional for GW, but you will be penalized compared to someone that max them, in GW2, or so we were made to believe and greed is a powerful motivator).
Additionally, regular play simply isn't rewarding enough compared to farming/speed clearing.
That is true because killing a monster isn't rewarding compared to other activities! And especially killing a monster with a group is less rewarding than doing so alone.
Go do a dungeon with people.
What do people want?
Getting to the chest as fast as they can.
Why is that?
Because mob drops are mostly worthless - most people don't even pick up their non-gold drops.
See what is wrong here?
Anet in a effort to stop inflation due to an increase in gold/platinum by farmers, reduced the value of killing a monster!
They had two choices - 1) make farming impossible or slower than group killing (if you prefer, make group killing faster), or 2) Reduce value of a kill.
They chose the second which means everybody is affected and not only farmers, and even though, steps have been made to make group killing faster, killing a monster simply isn't worth when compared to reach the end-chest.

These were character specific titles that turned into account wide titles but kept the character-specific-HoM-statue-addition-requirements.
I am not of the opinion that it needs fixing, there are plenty of other statues to display in your HoM if your into that sort of thing, and if you want to max the title, more power to you .

I found Wisdom to be quit a fun title. Took me about 6 weeks and I just bought every (inscribable) unid i could find for 7/5k then salvaged and sold what i could in Kamadan. Ended up with 10k items ided and a few hundred K more cash than i had when i started
I did originally plan to do it fully by running chests and iding but i got really RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing bored after 150 chests that i gave up. Kudos to anyone who can stand to do the chestrunner track
As for the titles, although I have the required min ranks for Zaishen/lucky/unlucky and both allegiances I don't think you should have been able to add the statue to the HoM unless you maxed the track. It would not bother me if Anet decided tomorrow to remove all non maxed statues from the HoM, adding them early feels a bit like cheating and i kinda regret doing it

if you can do it 2500 times you can do it it 10,000 times.
It's not a question of things being handed to us it's just reducing grind.
i'd consider it just like the drunkard titles, doesn't mean it takes skill, jsut means alot of hours down the sink.
All it means it that the titels will be brought in-line with other account titles.

I have both of these maxed and the Book Shelf for Wisdom is awesome and the Treasure chests are too small.

Iam not talking about maxing a title which indeed requires some effort, iam talking about LOWERING THE REQ TO ADD IT TO HoM! And HoM in other words is a "thank you" from Anet for playing GW all these years and not a way for Hardcore players to show off when the new game is released.
You confuse a prestige title in game with a reward for playing Guild Wars in the long run.

Many people did it, so do it if you covet it - that's the way it is!
Personally, I don't care anymore - I maxed all PvE titles there is.

Well if 10.000 = stupid... I have to be a rly rly stupid player with 20k opened chests huh?
I don't think so....
Also i know a few ppl that have opened far more than 30k ;-)
When I started playing "Treasure Hunter" was the only title I rly wanted....
So I started chestrunning ago with my main character (like you know it wasnt acc wide earlier)....
I had a looooot of fun while chestrunning in PUG's, with friends or guildmates... and even when i ran alone i had fun when i got some nice drops!
If you rly like the title... 10.000 is fair!
If you are scared of 10.000... go get another noobish title like r10 sunspear

At least the image is moving, unlike paint.
