i feel if u like playing Tomb Raider or any other game where the main char is a female...then u should be ok with playing other games as a female...i perfer to look at the women more then the men...in alot of games..the female is always just better looking..not that i try and act as a female when im playing one...its just the look...i hate bulky chars or when the men have a female shape..Mesmers, Ranger, and elementalist all look like they have been taken estrogen or sumting...

Well for me it all comes down to how the majority of the armor looks, for certain professions I don't like how the armor looks compared to the other gender.

I'm male, and have just a female Necro. It's just cause' I had this name bouncing around in my head "Countess Imogen", and I didn't have a necro. And the name really does fit a female Necro well, I think. I really just can't play as female chars, though. I like looking at my char and seeing at least SOME of myself in their body shape.

Just to side track.... By looking at the polls we now know that female players make up about 14% of the game... I wonder why so many guys still claim they are girls^^.

I'm female with only female characters. I tried making some male characters but didn't quite like their looks. Besides I tend to identify myself with my characters, each of them is an alter ego of mine

This poll is very nice, have all the choices you need.
breakdown
necromancer - 1xmale 1xfemale (both tallest size)
elementalist - female (1xtallest size 1xsmallest size) don't think i'll make a male elementalist, they look, erm, i'm profiling lets just say I don't like them.
ranger - female (1xtallest size 1xsmallest size)
warrior - female (smallest size)
monk - 1xfemale 1xmale (both smallest size) i don't believe i've seen anyone made a big size monk before
Mesemer - female (1xsmallest size 1xtallest size)
Ritualist - female (smallest size)
assassin - female (smallest size)
Paragon - male (simply because i don't like any of the female paragon, biggest size)
Dervish - Female (tallest size)

More like, female players make up ~14-15% of forum members that go in Riverside.
It's not necessarily representative of the actual makeup of the game.

I'm female with all-female characters.
I tried a few male charactes, but it really wasn't me. Plus, I'm really not into the whoe body-builder look that goes with male warriors (not that I can really work the warrior class either, but there you go).
I'm about average height in real life, so I tend to go with mid-range females when I create a character. At the moment I have one of everything bur warrior and necro. I have no warriors and two necros, (only coz one of my necros is my oldest remaining character and I don't really have the heart to get rid of her).
(As a woman, I could complain about the equally stereotypical female figure, but to be honest, if in real life women were running around that much, you wouldn't see many overweight people there either.)

I have mostly male characters, but there are some exceptions.
Ranger- Male, 1 pvp 1 pve
Ritualist -Male (kinda want female :\)
Dervish- Male
Mesmer -Female
Warrior -Female
Necromancer -Male
Some classes are fit to be male, and some are fit to be female. Take the mesmer for example.

Edit @ Zahr below me: I'm not a fan of capes, so I never display them, hehe.

This pretty much is my reason too and the capes aren't that great. And most of the men seem Chunky...or gay...except Dervishes.

I'm female and I have 11 female characters, only 1 male character (and I don't even play him. I mostly got him for the armor).
I don't think there's anything wrong with making characters of the opposite sex. *Shrug* It's only a game.

I'm a male, and my character gender choices are mainly determined by their armor designs and how I picture that profession in my head.
Ranger - Female
Ritualist - Female
Paragon - Female
Necromancer - Female
Warrior - Male
Assassin - Male
Dervish - Male
PVP Character - Varies
