Ty that explains everything - now we know why updates and everything takes so damn long and its because of the damn turtle - think how many tons of carrots they eat and with only 3-4 ppl who have to feed , clean and wipe up tons of turtle poop , its no wonder they dont have to the time to do important stuff

i think John should follow the rest of the Anet team and only say something when it's ready. Stop giving updates , we're perfectly fine with no information. At least there will be less whinging on the boards.

Still too much of the "Give me free stuff to be dissapointed in! Now!!" going on in this community.

Its been since the release of Eotn you guys had to pay anything for this game. Anet's only obligation is letting you play the content included with the campaingns. All the rest is just them playing santa.

o_O
so NOW they actually are thinking about embark.... and here i believed in the *early 2011* for some days.... up until now

my english can be bad sometimes, but i see this:
"We've been getting more into the Embark build than I thought we would, so I'm pretty excited for when we get to the point of actually talking about it."

so they arent really busy with it, or even talking about it? but.... will they be busy with it this year, or is it going to change into somewhere in 2012?

may sound weird, but yesterday i was talking about stumme and how good he is compared to anet from some year(s) ago

let the next thing they say, be about when they will start working on embark/full hero... PLZ

This game might be PvP dead but it`s not PvE dead - people do a lot of things and they demand new content. If there is demand there should be a supply also - at least a smart person can figure it out.

Another thing - the way you treat people in GW1 will affect how people will treat you in GW2. And i hope that you want GW2 to be a HUGE SUCCESS, don`t you?

Anet treats it players awesomely. To compare: I saw a few copies of Tabula rasa for sale months after the game was discontinued.

I think they are just waiting for the playing population to decline to a level such that everyone will fit in the embark outpost.

The problem most of us are having isn't about demanding free stuff. For me this isn't pitchforks and torches(heck I am not even playing GW right now lol). This is about an update that John Stumme said was coming before the Canthan New Year. Which, this build still has a chance of coming out before then(not holding my breath). If it isn't coming out before CNY then they should tell us since they said it was. I wish people could be more tactful when impatient(myself included at times) but we know how forums get. ANet has a passionate community. I think it boils down to: Don't say you are going to do something if you aren't going to do it. What do I mean by this? Well, the Dervish update has been talked about by various ANet developers for over a year. I think it's safe for me to file that under, "Don't say something if you aren't going to do it." That is where the player's frustration lies and I think they are entitled to that frustration. They aren't entitled to be rude however(myself included in that at times toward the devs).

I for one am excited(if not a little impatient) about the new content because the WiK content was so good. Also, playing my derv again and having it feel "new" is a really cool thing. Also, spending a few weeks coming up with 7 hero builds sounds like a TON of fun. Oh the possibiliies.

Your english IS bad. What he said was: we already did more about the embark beach than we expected, so much more, that we will soon be able to divulge more information about it. Remember, Anet only talks about things when they're quite far along the way.

I don't really understand this. They said Embark Reach was going to be released in early 2011 but they haven't even started talking about it yet? Does that mean no work has been done on it either?

What? Treat us like children because we can't handle being informed? Well, perhaps that's true for some of us, but not all. I'm a pretty patient person and I like being treated like a mature adult. I appreciate the updates, as opposed to many months of silence before something pops out of mid-air.

So many corporations operate behind that veil of silence; it's so sterile. While it can be frustrating to wait and wait and wait on projects that seem to take forever, I choose to appreciate that A-Net is still excited about adding stuff to our "dying game," to the point of maybe even biting off more than it can chew.

While I'm not one of those who believes "any new content is good content" -- they are a business and it's definitely in their interest to keep the consumer happy -- I've also spent some time developing online content for a greedy public. It's pretty damn impossible to keep the greedy public happy.

I'm looking forward to the Dervish update, too. But I don't think that talk about/work on Embark Beach is mutually exclusive.

You are not being informed or treated as an adult you are being fobbed off and treated like an idiot.
Well that's a bit strong but the problem is that is how publicity people work.

Convince us we want something by telling us how great it is.
They do not create anything or have any realistic idea as to how long something will take, that is not their "job"

I cannot really argue that updates being announced and implimented on time is a bad thing.
So finish embark beach and the dervish update then shut up till you have the next update finished then tell us what it is and install it.
Repeat for all future updates.

The place you want the publicity people to be working is on GW2 which doesn't exist yet there they can tell us what great things are coming.
That at least has some purpose.

It's beginning to sound as if all of us are suffering from a mild case of Stockholm syndrome. No matter how often Anet disappoints us, no matter how long they ask us to wait, no matter how many times they fail to deliver or flat out lie to us....we always come back begging for more.

I guess that just shows how far this game has fallen (which implies that it was amazing at one time).

Now, it's like a desperately ill, 3-legged dog that you picked up on the side of the highway, because...you know? You're a good person. And, let's be honest, you didn't think it would live much longer. So, you play with it every once in a while, because you'd feel like a jerk if you didn't, but without some major attention from a veterinarian or the divine intervention of Cthulhu (or whomever you pray to) that dog is going to slowly and painfully pass into the afterlife.

And I'd assume that doggy afterlife and MMO afterlife are similar. Humping and shit everywhere.....just....everywhere.

For me its more psychological, Ive told myself over and over again that guild wars rocks, and its mostly true. Therefore i have developed this kinda rotten attitude towards games in the online genre outside of guild wars and while sitting on my high horses looking down at what is for me "inferior games" i know deep in my heart that i would not be able to cope with throwing away my guild wars mentalities from the need to interrupt that near instant heal to simply wanting a armor that do not make your eyes bleed because of special effects, playing a ranger archetype without actually having to use a pet, wanting to actually make important choices and create a build instead of playing the same setup as every single character of the same class without variation. I realize i would not survive a game in the same genre until gw2. Therefore i play warcraft 3 and minecraft when i get bored of guild wars, they are good games without making me feel like a traitor

So now you should start getting really, really worried...

People just realize now that there's nothing left to do. About 1.5 year ago many people argued about the fact that there was nothing to do , especially on PvP side , whereas all PvE'rs didn't realize , simply because there were all titles to finish , etc....
So now a bit later , almost everyone got his titles limits , everyone watchs the fact that it's boring and notice that there wasn't any single valid update....

For me , there were many areas with a lot of potential , but which never got any single care at all ( such as polymock ; codex ; PvE challenges such as shadow nexus , dahjak ; magni box tournament ; etc...) ... really , when we think , not much was done ( if you remember sorrow furnace and other stuff from 2006...)
Too much time was spent on GW2 and it's still delayed delayed and delayed( i remember it was announced for 2009 ...)...I'm pretty sure many people expect it better be a pro game ...
