Now the question is...what do CFST and HTLLYC stand for?
Canthan Festival Starts Tomorrow?
Happy Turtles Lick Little Young Children?

Thats great John... but how about actually finishing a project you already started?
8 months since a skill update and dervish update was announced...
Speed clears times are 10% better than what they were pre-Feb 2010 nurf...
6 months since we seen real content that was not made to promote costumes...
Costume products still have sub-quality graphics and AA errors....
PvP is still dead as disco going to have to get more creative than adding some more prizes.
I could go on but it looks like your team has already bitten off more than it can chew.

CFST = Canthan F? Special Training. The first quest in the new Canthan content.
HTLLYC = How To Let Loose Your Charr... you know, something along the lines with that movie How To Train Your Dragon.
You know nothing will get done. When something does get done, 80% of it will be untested or poorly tested and restarted.

Can only quote this for truth. I wish I could say things were different, because I'm sure John is a nice guy, but so for, nothing has changed from a year ago...
Every point on the quoted list is as true as it is sad, and all I've ever see John do is say: "Don't worry, it's comming".
It's the same old Anet we know under a different name...

Everything you say is true, including this one, but this has nothing to do with the nerf honestly.. Everything is faster because now we use different and better tactics. UW, DoA, FoW, all tactics got completely revised, and for DoA we even dug up ancient tactics from years ago that some frenchies and germans used to use, but stopped doing for some silly reason... People get better, that's it..

Remember though, the live team is like 3-4 people and a pet turtle named Argo.
It's hard for them to come off of a success like WiK with perfect elan. I'd like to see Dervs get some love then as much as I have prayed for a non-imbagon, paragon buff...just let it go. While some parts of the game have become elitist, there is nothing they can do that won't create a massive ragequit.
SF should have been nerfed after 3 months, but that train has left the station.
SoS, DwG, SF, Imbas, and other gimmick builds are so ingrained into the meta that it will do nothing but spread hate to change the mechanics now.
First, I don't mind costume promoting content. Anet is the only NCSoft company that lost money in 09 and probably in 2010 as well. They have to bring in some money, or they won't be able to buy pizzas as often and software coders will quit without their pizza.
In fact any new content is welcome. Anything beyond the same old NPCs and the same quests that were in place for the last 4 years is pleasant.
CNY (Canthan New Year) then start of WoC.
I hate to say this but I think Embark Beach and 7 heroes will be the end of the game as a multiplayer experience. Once you just have to go to one location to reach any mission, and bring 7 heroes along...well it's going to be for title grinders and helping people get to HoM=30pts.
I am interested in how it will work though.

I guess he just changed it to say that February is going to be an exciting month... but he didn't specify which year.

I am glad he did change it, I was just about to post with a huge rant about how its been nearly a year and he said they were getting the late-ass Dervish update done before the Embark thing.
I think John is way better than the people of the past, he earnestly seems to want to communicate with us even when what we have to say isn't very pleasant. Most of the other guys (Linsey, Regina, etc...) just pretend they've gone death when we give them the shit they deserve.
This, hopefully, means that the Dervish build is more or less done and it, along with a lot of stuff, will be released within Febuary sometime. Still, the fact that we don't yet have the promised pre-update skill preview isn't encouraging. I hope you're sticking to your word on this John. The Live Team has RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed away every last bit of credibility and if you think waiting over a year for a single-large scale skill update (when the original goal was 3-4 PER YEAR) is acceptable, you're RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing wrong.
EDIT: Also topic name is extremely misleading. It's not news and it makes one think that they have indeed just given up on the Dervish balance and just started on Embark (which I still have no clue on what its supposed to be).

Well I learnt that the devs are just excited about Embark Beach now... which means for the past few months they are pretty much sick of it till the point of procrastination.

ummm at least IMO, the only time GW is still truly a multiplayer experience is MAYBE for the elite dungeons, otherwise most of the veteran players basically H/H everywhere. oh yeah and the sad excuses for PvP zones i guess could be classified as multiplayer. tho i don't consider bots and leechers to be players.

That's why they should never ever announce a project till it is finished.
for example the dervish upgrade is causing loads of negative comments because it is late.
So why not do the upgrade before announcing it, we would never know the difference and all projects would come in on time.

Yes. And , that comment on OP's post is , for me , an other way to say embark bay will come when it's done. Nothing new....
Let's be honest... See how crap costumes have turned to and people still buying them. Hearts of the north content was just terrible compared to War in Kryta, just a way to promote those wedding costumes. Pretty sure winds of change will be a way to promote some canthan costume( like the one kisu is wearing ) or so...
The same can apply for embark bay. I'm highly convinced they will replace Team Arenas outpost with it and it will just be something such as kurzic and luxon guy from GtoB... You will teleport to mission and that's it...
But , Mireles Post is very right . Why can't they just , eventually , not do anything for 2-3 months and then say " preview : next week xx is coming or so.."

"February is going to be an exciting month". -John Stumme
So the dervish preview update is coming sometime in February. Probably on the last week of the month. Then it will take them about a couple of months or so until they release the actual update. I'm so excited :/
