Minipets for my HoM.
Can't get enough on one account alone, and top end ones are expensive. Just an example. All elite armors, and the weapons. Need money for them.

It's been said, but who cares:
GvG top-tier: 3-4 hours/day -> ~750zkeys = ~4,875k/month
DoA top-tier: 3-4 hours/day, 40min runs, average, counting forming time -> 5 runs/day @ ~75k/run (can be up to 200k/run if you get a 7/15 or 8/16 and some random unid drops people didn't pick up) = ~11,250k/month
Well, bad example maybe, since 5 DoA's per day can be tiring, so let's make a more realistic one for 3 runs/day
So, @3 runs/day -> ~6,750k/month
And 3 runs can easily be achieved though, so I'd say DoA is still more profitable..

GvG is less time than that (making semis is like 85% of Floor's figure), but you also can't plug away at it nonstop for increased linear gains.

It doesnt net as much as it used to...but dungeon running is rather profitable still.
It it's hayday I was able to pull in bout 455k for 1hr of running and anywhere from 5-30mins of forming.

Ah, you're talking luxury items now. Been there. I do recognize the craving to have a certain max armor (the looks of your toon do matter) and I'm very lucky that I dislike most of the elite armor sets so I've not been tempted. Wallowing in luxury is hard stuff.
I must admit I don't "get" the HoM craze. I've looked at the GW2 rewards. A few minis, some special skin weapons and armors, a few titles. The items will probably be customized so no capitalizing on trading them, when and if they should become rarities. Which I doubt, since there's gonna be a million players with them (granted, I know, not me ). Perhaps it's the journey, not the destination, that matters.

Could probably add SoOSC to the list if youre in a good guild. And the profits in Cantha can allso be rather extreme though it doesn't instantly pay off it sure as hell does over time. Presuming you can see gold when you get it
Not to forget services like dungeon running, mission running and AFK vanquishing services. Either one can earn you 50k hour +++ without much trouble.
It really is a shame though that this game has degenerated itself this far, because I really think you should be capable of getting money just by playing the game and not only thru high end farming. The only true way to fix this would be to add new drops thru the normal mobs or even a vanquishing chest with its own drops. Or maybe something along the line of collector items that can drop off every single mob in the game. Problem is no matter what they add, it does over time get killed off by farmers. Hopefully the GW2 system of getting more \ better drops first hour of play will help

Farming fame and cpoints for people probably ranks up there.
I remember fame farming for people +- 3 years ago getting 3K per fame. You can do the math if you're getting 15+ fame per match.

DoA, well it is to me anyways. Before when I was in a serious guild we used to do 40 mins runs, so that was really profit back then.

No gvg for my guild. So in my situation, I prefer DoA or RA on ZC days.
I run dungeon SCs sometimes to refresh but due to my always bad luck, I don't consider those as efficient way to earn money.

I like to say I've completed, and I enjoy the work towards it. I enjoy farming to an extent, and I greatly enjoy the DoA. I enjoy completing my HoM. So money comes along with it. The HoM craze.. well, it's just like wanting luxury items - a certain look. I would like to have the titles to say I've done them, and the items themselves are kinda cool. It's unique.
Besides those, you don't *need* money to play GW. You can PvP or PvE just fine without money at all, something unlike WoW or other games.
@Gabs88 - you are perfectly capable of getting money through normal play. It's just not as much as high-end farming, which is perfectly reasonable. You can earn your elite armor through normal play, it just takes a bit longer.
If you add a collector's item, or a vq'ing chest, the items aren't going to have much value if everyone does them. You're confusing the issue. If it's available to everyone, it's not a high end item due to supply and demand. If it's high end, people will farm it, and drop rate will determine where it floats.

You can actually make quite a lot through normal play and not bothering with high-end farming. No, it's not going to be 5-6,000k a month, but honestly, you don't need anything close to that sort of money.

True, I've never completed a high end dungeon or area in 4 years of playing and I have my 30/50 HoM rewards.

I still do well with feather farming myself. If you hit the Tyrian and Canthan hotspots with the right build you can really rack up.
To address the above, one can earn the money needed to progress through the game simply by playing the game. No one needs To have 500e in order to equip themselves and function properly. The only reason to accumulate that much is to buy vanity skins or just for the sheer unadulterated hell of having that much cash on hand. There is no game mechanic that rewards people who have more loot.

x2.
I've never had a ton of money and outside of equipping heroes/toons with insignia's and runes, never found that to be an issue.

Everyone and their pet rock knows you can make money through normal play. It goes without saying. Duh?! But the OP specifically said this...

So im wondering what peoples opinion is on the best way to earn money in guild wars??

@OP - Powertrading is arguably the easiest and more importantly "least time consuming" way to make money in GW. DoASC is up there too except like many have mentioned, requires you to do at least a few runs a night or close in order to make big quick bucks. To me that sounds like work. No thanks.

My response, the one I was directly replying to, and the others following after it were in response to Gabs88 claiming that the only way to get money in this game is by high-end farming, which is very much not true. Yes, that sort of farming is a quick way to get money, but it isn't the only way.

Usual PUG runs don't take 40 min, also counting the amounts of failures you can have. I remembers a usual PUG run takes about 1hour and 20 minutes and that is without doing Mallyx, counting mallyx with that time takes you around 2 hours to get at least about 3 gemsets which are worth 37k, some greens and some goldies.
I doubt 75k per run is possible.
