I think the "announcement" upthread was a result of someone failing to follow Wheaton's Law.

Ack! Looks like they forgot to do sweet treats weekend...

Maybe they're having trouble combining the two into one, or designing the mini's - ahaha!!! No event items are dropping ATM.

The Sweet Treats Weekend coincides with the Western Christian Easter holiday weekend, which changes every year and can be any Sunday between March 22nd and April 25th.

My guess is that they are still working on the anniversery update and they arent sure when they will finish, so nothing has been announced.
I wouldnt be surprised if we have Sweet Treats this weekend Fri-Sun. Then we get the Anniversery update between Tuesday and Thursday, with it lasting one to two weeks.

I'm pretty sure that being like, 12 hours late won't kill you, besides if it does you'll be the first to know. I feel like the OP is the guy at a stoplight who starts honking as soon as it turns green, doesn't even wait like a second and just lays on the horn. Its not that big of a deal. We know the event is coming. Its going to be there. It will be joyous and you will be happy. The world won't end because ANet didn't make an announcement. They got stuff to do themselves.

Be grateful they update at all. ANet is under no obligation to do so. It speaks volumes on how much they value their past customers that they still have a live team at all, and still update the game so much.

anet is part of a corporation, the only reason is produces this so called ''free content'' is to keep it's customer base happy, not out of the goodness of it's non-existant heart, it's called business

Which makes sense, considering that the actual anniversary is a week from today (the 28th is next week, people, not this week).

Actually for the last 2 years the anniversary of GW itself actually ended up being one of the last 2 days of the event. The anniversary event started almost a week before in advance. However, I feel because Easter is this weekend they might start the event either at the beggining of next week or the middle of it.
Would be intrested to see if they actually start it on the day of the anniversary itself, I doubt it though, well see in a few days anyway. Would be nice to hear an actual date.

In about six years of playing GW, and almost as many on Guru Forums, this has to be the dumbest thread I've seen, and that's saying a lot.
Complaining because the Easter event isn't announced far enough prior to Easter? This is why the U.S. is circling the drain...

Maybe I'm remembering poorly but doesn't the bunny drop normally happen in late March or early April?
I seem to remember thinking it should happen during Easter in years past and it seemed odd that it was well before that.
Perhaps old age has effected my memory but I don't think this ever happened at Easter.
