It says a lot about this board that i expected the title of this thread to be sarcastic and we were in for another round of complaining.

THANK YOU anet for:
1)successfully creating one of the best pvp games ever
AND
2)successfully killing it off with continuous intentional bad skill balances
AND at the same time
3)turning it into a mere GW2 guinea pig and a not so successful cash cow (the thanks for that goes to ncsoft, I suppose).
Because otherwise, I'd probably still be playing too much GW as I have when the game used to be good.
So really, THANK YOU for screwing it up along the way.
And I'm honestly half serious about this.

I 100% agree. ArenaNet has provided me with the ability take myself away from real life, which at many points in my life has been desperately needed. I know we don't get updates as much as i'd like, but when we do and it involves new content, it is always quality. Thank for providing me with nearly 4 years of enjoyment. I have formed several friendships that have continued outside the game, you have provided me with the ability to vent to others who are at most times caring individuals who are willing to listen to my problems, and stop listening when i want them to, and for me to be able to do the same.
You have created an awesome community and an awesome game. I'm sorry for all the haters and complaints (which sometimes I am guilty of). What you have made is amazing in so many ways, if any devs read this, never forget what you have done for many people, without the game it could be said that some lives would be dramatically different.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thanks to Anet for providing me a means to escape from reality and enjoy a quality game for the last six years. The game isn't perfect and I have disagreed with a lot of the changes, but for a company to keep supporting a game after they are no longer making money from it (other than from the NCSoft store) says a lot about them. I'm looking forward to GW2, but even after it comes out I expect I will still visit my toons in the GW1 universe.

I met my ex 3 and a half years ago. I was a secretary back then and He was an IT man. You know, like Maurice in IT Crowd Ha was (and still is) an addict of GW and bought me an account to play. The most complex game i played before was passians
But something happened. I played a monk and a mesmer for six months just in pre searing! I love the theme of that era!
I tried many other MMOs like Aion, Rift, WoW, Eve, Lotro, even STO too but every time i find myself back in Tyria. I love the people's attitude in game, i love that people do stuff because of fun, not because they HAVE TO do something for the monthly fee.
I love this game! I'm looking forward to Dragon festival, WoC and all the events to the very end of GW1. Thank you Anet for organizing these for us!

Anet still makes a quality game even if it's old.
For the little manpower you got for GW1 it still one of the better online games out.
The staff deserve some credit for what they have done so far.
So many hours I've spent on this game I never regret that I bought it!
I hope GW2 will make me feel the same enjoyment.

lol, that did occur to me when i started this thread. I will say I'm impressed with the amount of positive support pouring out though. To be completely honest I thought there would be 50/50 hate/love posted here. Equal thanks to those with nothing nice to say that simply avoided posting. I thought about making a "why Alice's thread is stupid" thread just for that, but it looks like it isn't really needed.

Over the last 6 years I have enjoyed GW
Having purchased accs slots ect this game has cost me nothing as far as I am concerned for the time spent playing.
Yes some updates may have caused a ripple here and there but thats where
you adjust accordingly and still achive your goal.
Also over the same period I have never had any problems with Support also so my thank you goes to all staff .
This game has been fun thats the important factor and if you look at all the content /updates that you have given for free also this Game deserves the praise it duly warrents

My account time, which has to be at or near 3k hours (and counting), is more than enough thanks.
I want the game I love to be better than it is, but some people take it too far and too seriously on the forums (Guru2 is no exception, and the game is still pre-Beta!).

Across all characters, you have played for 5.728 hours 51 minutes over the past 11 months
I am guessing I like this game

Here's what I like about GW and why it's the only MMO I play:
* Free to play. I would not be playing it if it had a monthly fee, no matter how cool it was.
* It really caters to the casual player. The requirement to play as a team came with it own solution (AI companions) and the instanced world zones offers a kind of privacy casual players really appreciate.
* Clear separation of PvE and PvP. They are very different types of play. I dislike games that force you to put them together sooner or later.
* The strategy. I like a game that makes you think at least a little. Working with a team (even if it's AI), working with a limited skill bar, it's great.
* Outstanding artwork, music, design. I like Prophecies the most but all the campaigns have spectacular places and moments.
* The trading system. I love the haggling, the advertising, the bazaar market. I do miss a non-real time component, such as a bulletin board, but I can't say I've missed the auction houses that every other game is so keen to have.
* The economy. I find alternative currencies to be excelently implemented. I read about other MMOs trying to design fixed systems around them and it's pitiful compared to GW. The simplicity and flexibility of the NPC trader system is amazing.
* The ability to change everything about your character, short of primary profession.
* No restrictions for enjoying the game to the fullest. You can go everywhere, do anything, have the best of items and skills. You don't have to grind for it, you don't have to pay extra for it. All it takes is skill and reasonable amounts of time -- and the game makes up for that time.
