How to Get Help with Your Account

For the fastest possible service regarding issues that involve your game or NCsoft Master Account, consider providing as much information as possible from this list:

•Your name
•Your game account name(s)
•Your address
•Your telephone number
•Your birth date
•Your access keys (a scan of the key would be super helpful)
•The last four digits of the credit card(s) that you used for NCsoft Store or Guild Wars In-Game Store purchases

I call for a lock of this thread and move it unless we get an official word otherwise we will be addressing my account got hacked and I can not get it back ever since they have your access keys. No need for a password when you can barrage support and give them all the info they need to reset your account

Why would you need a scanned access key

https://forum.guildwars.com/

Why is the forum portion first and not guildwars???? where is the link to it from the official guildwars site?

Below are examples of good ones
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/i...362/spacer.gif

http://www.mycrysis.com/forums/

See the difference the website address first then the move to the forum

You can have my act key here it is 456ewefwefFUASSHOLE1561

Well being a support-only form, there's no need to enter there if you don't have some kind of technical problem.

I think it would be a good idea if fansites redirected their soon to be outdated support sections there.

Its about time some official forum for Guild Wars was made. Found Blizzards WoW forum very handy in regards to support.

http://guildwars.com/support/ will be still up.
I don't think neither anyone will reveal this kind of stuff on any forum even if only a hundred of thousands GW players can access to it.

But if you asked me yesterday if Anet would ever ask account information to log on his forum, i had say no, so i might be wrong here too....

It's a bit weird they're asking for details when there's already a ticket system for that...

The forum exists because their support is handled by NCSoft and Anet knows they are idiots. This is a way for them to provide a little more help given that NCSoft does not want Anet paying their own support positions.

6 years until now... testing the waters for a GW2 forum I see...lol. I do hope this works out, there are already some people pointing out bugs and flaws about the forum. So beta testing is going well I guess. Good Luck to all those who sign up.

I can see all hell breaking out as countless fake "support" sites pop up to farm login details.

Same here, even when they tell us not to use the same login credentials for any two accounts. Smells fishy.

If you go to https://forum.guildwars.com, you can check the security certificate of the website, and see that the certificate was released on May 3, 2011, to NCSoft in Austin, Texas.

Also, as said before, using your game credentials for the forum has the advantage that you do not have to store any credentials separately in the forum. Most forum databases are not very secure. In my opinion, the current solution is the safer one (and that's why Blizzard and Turbine also need your game credentials for their forums).

I hardly remember it but wasn't there a problem with NCSoft master accounts before? And what if you have to store data in a forum database. Aslong as there not the same as your account then the dmg is almost nihil. Let alone the lack of interest in data that is not linked to the users account.

The NCSoft Master Accounts are run by...NCSoft (hence the name). This is not. There's no overlap whatsoever.

We completed a soft launch of the Support Forums ahead of posting broader messaging for technical and staffing reasons. We spoke with our players in the official wiki community, communicated with admins of our larger fansites (including this one) that administer tech and support sub-forums, and the Facebook community.

The official wiki had a game account support page on which customer support staff posted and helped players with account issues. The Guild Wars Support Forum serves this purpose in a much more user-friendly way. As this was the venue which would most directly be affected in terms of support answering questions, we communicated the soft launch of the Support Forums with the official wiki community.

We also contacted admins of fansites that have tech support sub-forums about the soft launch of the Guild Wars Support Forums, as those fansite sub-forums get a ton of questions which need to be directed to Customer Support (i.e. "I forgot my password"). At fansite admins' discretion, they updated their sticky pages and let their mods know about this new resource.

The Guild Wars fan page on Facebook was directed to the Support Forums because Facebook fans tend to be less knowledgeable about how to contact Customer Support, and thus, we felt it would be helpful for them to know about the soft launch of the Guild Wars Support Forums as well.

We also decided to soft launch the Support Forums so that teams working on it on our end could continue addressing less critical forum bugs ahead of the broader messaging, and so that the teams could ramp up to forum activity.

As others have pointed out, other industry-leading games companies also ask their players to login to their forums with their game account details. This is not unusual. We have a lot of knowledgeable people who are experienced in security issues working on these forums, and we take data security very seriously.

Hope that clarifies things for you all.
