i think they are way too expensive. i would rather get my way up to a set of PvP Obsidian Armor or PvP Chaos Gauntlets than get one of those weapons.

Just wait till they have specific armor for purchase in the in game store with great skins for gw2. Or weapons or gw2 . Wow was I heArd bad about releasing content after content and charged for them. God help us if gw 2 will have expansions like gw1 personally I wouldn't min cosTumes for purchase but nothing we can use. Let's hope gw2 will be the only game after gw1 without expansions like factions.
If u want to get something worth 200e etc farm it get it and when I tire of it sell it and get ur money back or that THEN SUM ... Power tradin wurks

Me too. GW 1 started out as a game without grind. Look at it now.
It is better to leave players with "nothing to do" than provide grind as mindless entertainment.

My suspicion is that WoC will include a decent way to get ZCoins. Even a-net must understand that 100GZCoins is a little extreme.

zcoin version of un-nerfed courier falcon im guessing/hoping.
and @ op no i wouldn't waste my time on getting all those coins. what i might do is work till you get tired of farming coins and(if you still want the envoy weapons) buy however many gold zcoins you need. that way you played until you got bored, and mitigated the cost of the weapon at the same time.
just my thoughts, have doing with YOU chose to do.. don't let peer pressure influence your choices

It sounds to me like you're asking from a time vs money perspective.
If that's the case, then the answer is no. It's easier/faster to farm the money and buy the zcoins.

Or maybe invisible armour for the same price
You could say there is grind in GW there is always grind in any game, however there isn't compulsory grind to any great level.
If you had to get lightbringer to level 10 to finish the game that would be grind.
If you had to gain all titles to qualify for a special title then that is not grind in the accepted sense.

Not worth the time to get them anymore for big ticket items, like the equip bags, fireworks, or envoy weapons, since you can just buy them up quick and get your item.

Well. Starting with lol at some messages...I'm 33 years old and yeah I work, that's why I can only play 2-3 hours / day at the most. And yeah, I have 33 titles, 50/50 for HoM already. Iuris got the point of what I was curious about. Just as simple as that : isn't it a little too crazy to ask for 100 gold z-coins for one weapon? If everyone would just pay, then who's working for the gold coins? Even if my purpose in game at the moment is to find a purpose. It just seems idiotic to ask for such a big amount of time and effort of anyone, no matter if it's a 13 years old or a 65 years old, to spend on just doing all z-stuff every day, all day long, on all chars...that unless they intend this to be some kind of thing to motivate us for playing one more year and so on. Wasn't complaining about anything. Just asking : 100 gold z-coins is A LOT just to me or to anyone? And thanks all. Love reading all the messages. I can only conclude that everyone already put a lot of thinking into this.

Ive flicked thru this thread and my views are - the new weapons are part of 2 things- money sink and something more aimed towards pvper`s.
Reason i say pvper`s is because - pvp players have in the past moaned that they dont get anything decent and a while back anet introduced pve weapon and armor skins for pvp.Now if we look at the difference between pvp and pve zmissions etc for what we get in pve as rewards can be very low ( as some players have said in the past ) but if you are a pvp person then everything is repeatable in pvp.
Now ive mainly seen pvper`s selling the equip packs and ive only heard a few pve players actually getting enough from pve z stff to get one.
The avg pve person may have a few chrs who done all campaigns and have the ability to do all the z-pve stuff and yet the amount of coins would be small compared to avg pvp player who may have 3 or 4 times more - and we know when its ab/ja/fq players swarm for the zcombat.
Moaning that the new weapons cost 200e+ is a bit sad and its not anets fault but ours - i dont see anet stating each coins worth xx but its the player base who decides the price.
How the hell does someone decide the price at start i dunno and how everyone else copies the price after again is beyond me.It may be nice for the sellers to have a high price ( tho a lot of pure pvp players have said in the past they dont pve nor need cash ) but at the other end its the buyers who can get the short end of the stick and have to pay high amounts.

Does anyone think that Anet would really have released a 100 gold coin item if they weren't going to make zcoins tradable?
I mean, sure, it's expensive, but is it any more impractical than FoW armor?

100 gold coins isn't that much. Think people are overreacting to it and have the hand it over free on a silver platter mentality. It's not only the skin but the effort that has to be put in it wich also counts for the need of something. Besides now z-coins are tradeable it is way to easy to get it. It took how many min before the first person had it?
And if you want it you don't only have the option to either buy or do dailys. And I suggest to start with dailys wich get coins and a bitt of gold and the when your at a point you think it's not worth it anymore you can buy the remaining amount of gold coins while having wich will propable have dropped in price by then. Or sell them if you lost interest in the weapons by then

They don't expect you to get 100 gold z-coins through quests. They added the Envoy weapons because z-coins can now be traded. Thus, they are prestige items to be bought, rather than earned. You've gotta give the hardcore players something to look forward to.
@ Spiritz: I agree with your points. Just to point out one thing, the base price of a z-coin can be determined roughly by what you can trade for them. In the case of gold z-coins, we look at elite tomes and z-keys, but specifically the Elite Ritualist Tome, which goes for 10-15k. Because the Elite Rit Tomes are now easier to acquire, their price has decreased, so what we see is a convergence of the prices of Elite Rit Tomes and gold z-coins. Then the price of the gold z-coin raises a little bit because of the flexibility it gives you in acquiring specific items (not only tomes and z-keys, but things that are only attainable by trade for z-coins, such as the equip packs and envoy weps). This gives us a rough value of what z-coins should be worth. And of course market fluctuations, supply/demand, etc are applied. The value is not just picked out of thin air.
I personally would like to see the value of a gold z-coin stabilize at around 10k, and have it become a standard form of currency, much like the ecto. It's uses are far more than that of the ecto, and it is more consistently accessible. Additionally, it is not only a certain group of people (fast and experienced speed farmers) that are able to attain it (without purchase). The only thing that the ecto has over the gold z-coin is a trader that stabilizes the value.

If Anet reduces the amount of Z-Coins required to get an Envoy weapon that would be epically stupid. We have waaaaaaaaaaaay too many easy to get weapons/armors/items in game. After 6 years everything is over farmed or dirt cheap nowadays.
PS. If you want the Envoy weapons earn it or don't bother with it. 100 Z-coins too much? You've already talked yourself out of it so move on.
PPS. In case anyone feels I'm being elitist or whatever crap we use currently, I can afford Envoy weapons no problem BUT I intend to earn all 100 Z-coins on my own. I don't expect to get any anytime soon. I see it as something to work for in the "long run".

Z coins have a much bigger sink than ectos. It will be a long time before they are used as currency.
