Ice Tooth Cave
I initially posted this is Trader's Outpost but I feel I will get more of a response here.
Kamadan being transformed into an obscene circus freak parade, coupled with the constant raucous of pink trade chat and asinine local channel rhetoric has driven me to the far reaches of Tyria until I discovered a new refuge; the Ice Tooth Cave.
I have now taken a great liking to the place and notice that many people on my friends list choose to hang out and afk in their deserted Guild Halls or Kamadan, so I am addressing all those bored, reminiscent folks who are looking for a more secluded, tasteful place to afk and gather. I propose a new place to repose amongst your guru peers - the Ice Tooth Cave. This would be a nostalgic homage to the days of Marhans Grotto and Ascalon id1.
I must admit I am pretty bored and also curious as to the power GuildWarsGuru has on the ingame community. It would be nice to have some company and start a new trend in this time of alleged decline, with many claiming the Guild Wars community is deteriorating and facing total doom as GW2 looms. I aim to remain in the Ice Tooth Cave, alone or otherwise, and monitor the traffic to see who answers my call.
Yours truly,
Jason Xll

While I will agree with you that Kamadan is, well...hectic, I think a lot of the people who AFK are generally not at their computers and don't care where they are while AFK. Staying in Kamadan is convenient because you can post a trade message and climb the ladder and because it is a fairly cenral location. As far as gathering, I might join you in the Ice Tooth Cave on occasion when I'm just looking for something less hectic. I hear it's nice this time of year and I need a vacation anyways

only reason Kamadon is how it is today is because most people for the first time experiencing guild wars usually got Nightfall as a first campaign to get a taste of guild wars because of course...who doesn't want to swing a scythe and kill enemies?
Marhans Grotto - the most popular by necros for elite scar pattern
ascalon - greatest place to recruit.
i dont see really any other reason to get people from transferring to Ice tooth cave based on "you wanting them to" no really good reason except icicles danglin' above and most people dont have it and prefer not to go outta their way.

there are PLENTY of deserted (or close enough) places in guildwars...the desert cities in prophecies dont see much love... wanna hang out? try the mission outpost for the dragons lair (only peeps doing the mission are usually there--and thats rare). Henge of Denravi is huge and only rarely has enough people to even see the extra dots----and that's just the prophecies places!
so yeah, you can hang out in ice caves (I think I have a mule there--only she is trying to run to la)...or choose a bunch of other locales as well.

Ice Tooth Cave has long been my favorite location in the game. I liked it for two reasons - one, the scenary is amazing and two, its quiet. I certainly don't want ITC to become the next kamaden, that would just ruin it for me .

The entire purpose of this premise is to rally the guild wars community to unite and agglomerate in a single place for some leisurely and gentlemanly relaxation, not to scatter itself across obscure locations on the Tyrian continent.
I guess this is a social experiment to see the extent of GwG's reach and influence in the Guild Wars community and the ability of the general crowd to form an adhesive, close-knit and consistent community in a single, well known venue, as was the case when the game was young.

Kamadan is a port city for incoming and outgoing characters from other campaigns. Naturally, there will be more traffic coming to and from it, so making it a trade hub just makes sense.
You can also do dock runs for an ok profit, and it has the quickest way to get max level armor, weapons too if you have the BMP. I don't think anything players can do that will get trade to move, kamadan just about covers all bases.

Once again, I am not aiming to replace Kamadan with ITC and of course realize that in terms of functionality and convenience it by far surpasses the Cave.
However the goal of this initiative is not to substitute for Kamadan's supremacy as a commercial HuB but rather create a friendly, popular respite from its tiresome monotony.
Many of you may not see what I wish to achieve as you have not witnessed the jovial atmosphere and community spirit of Marhans Grotto, Piken Square and Ascalon id1, but in my idleness I feel like proving that the game still has that same flare in it.
Going to go sleep now since I have work tomorrow so entertainment for the night is over. Decent turnout on the first day! I will resume my campaigning tomorrow
Thanks to those that turned up, although I hope this is going to turn into less of an event thing but rather a regular hangout for those that feel predisposed to a quiet refuge in the Shiverpeaks...

What for?
Besides, if i wanted to relax, i'd rather take a nap or go for a walk rather than AFKing in Guild Wars.

No offense and don't get me wrong, please, but it seems more like a social experiment 'how many people will obey a guru guy with green name'.

You're missing the point.. he means relax in the game, like just chill. An mmo isn't all about how many things can I kill, or how high of a title can i grind, its about making friends and having fun. This is a perfect way for people just to hang out and talk and have a good chill time when they aren't in the mood to grind titles, SCs, etc.

I'm going to have to completely disagree with you there, Jason is just trying to get people together to have a good time for the exact same points I made ^.

You are by all means entitled to your own opinion and no one is making you come here. Some people have a different gameplay style and spend a lot of time simply socialising, exchanging news, rumours and gossip and generally messing around. I find the Cave facilitates such pastimes in an environment of like-minded people and without the chaos of Kamadan.
It is precisely for the reason that people such as yourself also play that an alternative hangout would be welcome.

Ice Tooth cave is nice, but when I want peace and quite, I prefer Basalt Grotto and Maguuma Stade.
Not a soul there, ever.
Anyways, if you want people to rally in some place other than spamadan, you have Embark Beach.
People should start going there to hang out, form parties and trade regardless of campaign. That's its purpose. No one is left out, not even those in Prophecies and Factions that have not reached the Town Port yet. It's the best PvE outpost.

etc.
Its just a fun place to have a chat with people about everyday things not just gw...seriously I don't see the point in posting pointless posts about how you think its pointless! Also I can't see where Jason said he wanted it to be the new kama ad1....although would be good if it turned out like grotto or ascalon id1 non-inscrip weps only!! haha
My little rant for the day.
afk Ice Tooth Cave.

It is a pleasant spot. Will join you there. Trying to remember six years ago first time I made it to Ice Tooth Cave. Fighting over in those days was still a bit of an adventure. Hard to remember that before Hard Mode the game was a bit tougher.

Ice Tooth Cave
Me, Akh, LBS, Rau, Herb and a few others use to hang in there quite a bit. I'm up for adopting that as my hideout again.
Fishermans Haven is another good spot too. Never anyone there.

I am glad the more seasoned players and true veterans of the Guild Wars golden age are being supportive. This could be a second Renaissance, so to speak

Why do you speak of recruiting and spamming your junk? I suggest you slow down and read through this "pointless" thread again or stop posting altogether.
I believe I have made my intentions pretty clear.

So I've heard. Unfortunately I was not high profile enough to be part of your get-togethers back then... Which is a shame because they sound awesome and I hope the Cave will once again serve as a ground to such legendary times.
I settled in the ITC to get away from Kamadan and then moved my trading operations there as well hehe Made some productive transactions at last night's gathering, and am now resolute to continue this campaign since I am thoroughly enjoying it.
