Since the finale and the superbowl are in conflict, there really is an impact.

I really only see 2-3 people literally complaining about this so its hardly a disaster. The majority of the world doesent give two hoots pretty much about the Superbowl to be blunt.
As you said its mainly an American sport watched by Americans and Guild Wars despite being created by an American company is a world wide brand name. The game wouldent have the success its enjoyed if it didnt cater to various world wide events in this case the Chinese New Year.
Also if you want your items from Sunday turn on your pc go afk on one of the sponsored districts get your items job done.
Anyway its a moot point now we know its next weekend but feel free to complain about it
On Topic: Glad that Anet gave us the information!

Yes I know that nothing can be done...just noting my dissapointment as I usually enjoy hosting a district. hosting=/=afking...a lot of time was spent doing the prep work to host a district...and for me, its now all for not....that is where inlies my dissapointment. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone when it comes to this situation.

they cared enough about a snowfall that knocked out a few GW players from the Halloween finale, so I'm sure they will care about the whole continent.

Doing this during the Super Bowl does seem kinda inconsiderate. I for one will be watching it despite whether or not its CNY and I hope the Giants turn the Pats into fertilizer.

I too will be watching the super bowl, regardless of the CNY, though I'll be rooting for the pats.
It is disappointing. I'll probably be at or preparing for SB parties much of the day, and therefore won't really have much time for the new year.

I just hope that there will be less botters and multi accounts on rollerbeetle... It's not really fun when at the end, lowest score is like 481k and you see the same guy 9-10 times...( read ... some guy who would be 150th on the ladder could probably correspond to 40-50th and might deserve a mini in real...)
Considering the mini price dropped a lot and that there will be that event, i got my hopes but well...

i dont like sports at all, so it wont harm me or my time
anyway, i dont mind waiting a lil longer, as long as its finale is in weekends, i dont mind
was hoping for the quests to be available after the last update, so could be preparing, and not with those items, but more doing the quests maybe getting a mini
well, lets have a wait and then go do all quests as fast as i can

Wait, so let me get this straight... people are complaining that we'll actually have a good chance to fail a finale and all get turned into dragons for an amazing screenshot*? Super Bowl AND a monastery full of dragons? This sounds like a win-win.
* based on previous finales where complete failure led to everyone being turned into that year's animal.

Failure is typically not a goal that people have in mind to achieve.
Now that you bring it up though, I should try to remind myself to find a district in which failure is certain.

Isn't Superbowl, at most, a six hour event? Aren't finales 24 hour events? How is it some people can be so bad at organising themselves they can't seem to find 30 minutes in a 24 hour cycle to attend an event they care enough about posting in a forum over?
A snowstorm or a power outage not only acts as a solid barrier to accessing the game, but they also have a high probability of raising serious real life priorities. Attending a keg party to watch a football game is not a 24 hour event and allows plenty of time to log into the game.
PS: Anyone else think the punishment for failing to complete the dishes made a lot more sense when the celestial spirit was a pig or a rat? It seems really bizarre that turning us all into dragons is a punishment.

We have four dragon masks already, but who knows? Maybe they'll do something different. I doubt it.
I just want my Dragon mini.
