If the informations in that picture are the ones for your account then you just compromised the security of your account. (e-mail address + char name known allow anyone to try to bruteforce your password).

If that's the case (email and char name are the ones of your account) I suggest you to change at least one of them.

edit: we seem to be back up and running, and yes, there is now a slight space below the character name on the log in ....but if that's the worst---I will take it!

I'm curious about that myself. I had forgotten about the warning and blinked when I saw the warning about the servers going down. First time I've ever been in GW1 when that happened.

I just got another update today, but there's no update notes yet.

I don't like when updates are not documented... it gets me paranoid. Many Indie games do that on Steam all the time, and you can't help but wonder: "What has changed?"

It's not even in the support forums. I guess they are rather busy.

Why is my client downloading files? Wouldn't be nice of them if they actually let us know what the heck they're doing? I mean I could get all paranoid and pretend that anet went insane and started uploading viruses into my PC. XD

With large-scale betas for GW2 coming up and plans for new GW1 content being minimal, I would assume most undocumented updates are for one of two things.

1. Preloading content for the final part of WoC. Even if it's not ready yet, some model/texture assets could be done and ready to preload.

2. Preparation for migrating HoM/title status, character names, etc to GW2. This is something they probably want available in the beta tests to make sure there aren't any major issues on release day.

If I had to speculate on the recent change to the login screen mentioned earlier, I would say it's a space/placeholder for a yet to be added link. Perhaps to a site to register which character names you wish to reserve, some account linking info, or maybe even beta info/registration.

We might be months from a release date, but we're only weeks from what Anet said will be "many" of us getting a chance to play GW2. That would be a great time to stress-test the bridge between the two games and make sure it doesn't break when its biggest day comes around.

the last update was probably to fix something from the maintenance that didnt get fixed right and since we dont know what the maintenance was about they arent going to tell us what the update to fix something from the maintenance was. (if you follow that).

that is my theory and I am sticking to it.
