There is a vast range of wealth - from the dedicated traders/glob farmers to the casual players. One of the best things about GW is that the effectiveness of your setups is not governed by by your wealth.
Above a certain (pretty achievable) baseline, everything else is cosmetic. Let's hope that does not change in GW2

I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe you have earned 340mil in 2.5 years. Let's be a bit reasonable.

It's completely possible if you're a high-end gvger and consistently place in the top 16 of the monthly tournaments which, based on his username/guild, seems to be his case.

120e = ~1000k/1m
so you're telling me your account is worth 150-160 stacks of ectos?
Sorry, but this figure is simply to high to be believeable.

I think I've come across and spent maybe ~20 stacks of ectos during my guild wars lifetime. I'm sure anyone with 50/50 in hom has at least 5m in assets.

It's not. Just about everyone who's been GvGing at a reasonably high level for at least a couple of years since 2008 has that kind of money.

At the moment I have 18k to my name but my wealth is in my armor/titles.
I have four sets of assassin armor all dyed black (leet Kurz, shing jea, seuiting, and asura) the asura isn't black. I got 20% ench spear, shields for dmg, earth, piercing, and fire. Zealous destroyer daggers. Oppressor scythe. Green obsidian armor. I have a blindfold and every type of cosmetic handset except the dragon ones. Close to 1.3mil in total of eotn rep points. Zaishen rank 4. 6 titles maxed. So on and so forth. I think most of the players have little cash, but most of it is invested into stuff. Like at one time I reached 734k from just speed clears but then it all got spent on armor ex. Happily at 46/50 now

I class my self as a very average player, I dont do speed clears or do pvp stufff cept for the occasonal jade quarry , cant even finish uw lol. so with all that in mind i still have over 300k just in gold , 3 sets of elite amor , 20 e, 10 black die and the usuall gold minis and 2 green minins all dedicated.
I havent got gwamm and i think 30/50 hom, I play for the fun of it and over the years have helped so many guildies out and friends it would proberbly make some of you sick what I have given away.
I think it really dosent matter how much you have as long as you have enjoyed your time playing like I have( cept for uw that annoys the crap out of me )lol
The guys that do the speedclears and amass a fortune so they can have there braging rights, I do wounder if they accually enjoy the game as much as I doo or if grinding that hard is really worth it, that would be interesting to know from my perspective. Please dont get me wrong I dont hate on these guys I fully respect there dedication to there side of the game and am in just "wow" at how they do it and make it look easy.
cheers phab

@Godess Charmaine - I speed cleared. Lots. Now, it's not about the grinding aspect that attracted me, I didn't want to have millions of gold. I did what I did because the community I was in at the time was very laid back, and we had a lot of fun. We would try different builds and just run for the fun of it. I never really aimed at amassing gold but at one point in my peak I reached over 700k of gold. So I bought a bandana with that

the easy answer:
enough to get stuff when they need it, but not enough to get everything they want--right now
I have what I 'need' to play, not everything I want--I consider myself average, though a bit of a packrat (I keep salvage items and trophies and nice shiny things----).

I'm always surprised how fast I gain wealth in this game just by playing the game normally. I never farm anymore but just playing maybe a couple hours a night seems to net me like 15-20k. So that's about 100k a month and over a million in a year. Throw in holidays and that's a lot more on top of that. So the 5 million figure I made fun of earlier in this thread actually isn't that unreasonable.

Exactly... they made it so easy to acquire wealth that people who still have a lot of things they would like to buy don't really realize it because they're too busy throwing their money away at things that they don't need whatsoever... not applying that to you in particular either btw.. I just think many don't realize how many gold sinks there are in the game, it's INCREDIBLY easy to gain wealth in the game at a rate of 100-200k a week with little playing at all, but it's even easier to throw it right back away on cons and other unnecessary things that make an easy game even easier (con sets, clovers, cupcakes, pie, apples etc.) or for titles, unnecessary shiny armors and weapons as well.

I usually gain 100k-150k per week, but i havent done that every single week since i started 5 years ago :P that would be crazy... (that would be around 37 billion gold :P)
Anyways, on topic: I think in average players have way more than they believe themselves to have, if u count the net sum of all aquired gold, titles, armor, weaps etc etc that player has earned.

Actually, most, or at least a lot of us do it because we simply enjoy it. I had so much in game money that the only things outside of my reach were the insane high-end mini's, which I cared absolutely nothing about anyway. So I didn't need to amass such fortune, it just happened while doing one of the things I really enjoy in this game: doing DoA with friends and having fun while we're at it. Runs don't go down as this insane grind where you shout at each other when you lose 12seconds or something, it's usually a group of friends having a laugh and enjoying the game. The money was usually just a bonus. In fact, I used to sit on so much ecto that I'm ashamed to admit that I feel poor now that I don't have a storage pane full of them anymore.

More like 39 millions ^^ Billions would be a thousand times more then that again.
In my experience, the average player sits on around 100-200k of wealth at any given time. Hardcore players have a much higher average and beginning players way less
Doing a bit of math though I'm surprised that not more people have insane wealth in the first place. If you do 8e\hour average speed clearing for 2 hours a day 365 days a year. You end up with almost 6000 ecto at the end of the year.

Only consets, armor, and craftable weapons are genuine goldsinks, though. They're the only ones that take any money out of the market. The rest just move it around.
