- Wonder why? GW has tons of skills, but how often do you need to change your bar to beat the next mission? Last areas of Prophecies had some strategical depth in them "bring Winter spirit". And areas without corpses don't need Minion Master. You can see that they tried to make the game tactical. Those whiptail devourers in Old Ascalon had Whirling Defense just when you're about to get Wild Blow on your Warrior. Then they forgot about the whole balance from Factions onwards.

- Dude, with all due respect RPG is the genre which is driven by the promise of neverending character development and adventures for all the mightier items. Reason why most of the folk are leaving GW is because there's nothing more to do. Title system already did a great job to increase longevity of the game. You don't go to store and expect to find good quality PvP combat in RPG... there's entire branches of industry for team based games, with serious dedication to map/weapon/class balance, private server support, grouping system, high score lists, plugins, tournament hosting, etc. None of those can be found on Guild Wars, for reasons I can totally understand.

I think the only thing that's even come close to GW's format has been Fury. Aside from that, you're out of luck.
For me personally I've still been playing a bit of WoW and really enjoying Warhammer Online. Endgame is a bit of a mess - lots of mindless AoE and melee DPS being in the pooper - but I don't know of any other MMO's that let you have so much fun with alts.

zOMG! by GaiaOnline is very similar. Except don't expect it to be as long or complex, actually lets just say that they need to improve a lot everywhere, starting with the longer than 5s lag and fact that it's entirely flash based. But it wasn't too bad, I started with that before.

Ok i want to revive this topic. GW1 is near extinction. I still play gvg and there are hardly any teams competing. Only on A AT there are 4 real teams actually playing. The only form of challange is the mat. GW2 pvp is far inferior to its ancestor. Does anyone have any idea of new games in the making that could be like gw1? Im talking about the pvp, not much interested in pve. Or any games released this year...
thx aneranet for letting this game bleed out
