Believe it or not, there's quite a few people who don't use SoS. Shocking, I know.
A lot of farming builds aren't designed to kill healers because its more efficient to not kill groups with them unless 100% unavoidable. I rather give advice that can be used for everything, not just SoS.

I try weekly to avoid using SoS builds if I can, it got too easy and/or extremely boring after a few weeks.
This week I went to Gandara Moon Fortress and used a Glad's Def warrior build on Hard Mode to good effect. Was fast.
Was something like Dwarven Stability, Glad Def, Deadly Riposte, Riposte, Whirlwind Attack, Healing Sig, Sprint and Viper's Defense(ball them before using this). Just bunch them and have at it, they drop like flies. IF the ranger is present melee him first.
Secondary class or some slots can be easily changed around to kill the healers, I just couldn't be bothered with it. Although my initial War Build could kill them but on normal mode.
There is one/two healer group in Gandara that can spawn(sometimes they are Nec - this build kills them) but it's easy to avoid if needed and even if you run into them you can kill a couple wars just not the healer unless you tweak the build. Kill Necro last. Just keep glads on(less dmg), keep him poisoned(he will condition you - counter w/heal sig) and spam whirlwind attack and he will die. Sometimes if you attack him first you will own him do to him using orders and
Worth noting on HM and(atleast for me) in that area that they drop loads of gold armors and occasionaly norm/gold War Tombs(sometimes Nec) if thats your thing, e.g. a lil bonus money.

Stone Summit Badges are currently about 400g-800g each, depending upon your level of patience/luck.

HUGE THANK YOU to dagrdagaz and Snograt
for pointing out, back on May 16 when Nick was
collecting Icy Lodestones, that these badges would
drop while farming Traveler's Vale and should be kept.
I had 14 left over from then, so just went out into
Tasca's today and got a couple more on the way to Nick.
Good tip, much appreciated.

how often does Nicholas the Traveller recycle what he's looking for?
For example, after this week is over, when's the next time we think this guy will be collecting badges? Does what he's collecting seem to be correlated with where he is (in which case, GW2 will probably be out before he's looking for these badges again).

Quests active in the area he is in almost always make him not spawn.

If you look on wiki, it sais that he has 137 possible "haunts" for us to look after, which means 2.6 years ish,so no, we're not close..(or are we? cant remember when he started!)

That's a good insight. But I still wonder how long until he's COLLECTING the same thing again, not really when the next time he'll be in a certain place will be. Will he be collecting Stone Summit Badges again sooner than 2014?
Or are those the same thing (ie, Arenanet has a list of place/collection item pairings that they cycle through)

I think the wiki answered my question. He hasn't repeated items yet, so my guess is that what he's looking for will repeat every 137 weeks as well.

April 2009 as part of the 4th year celebrations. Not long to go.
