I got my essences west from the Bone Palace this morning. You can take the first patrol using the Junundu and there are a few patrols north from there...

Well I tried that and i doesn't work. The degen I can work with but with 2 bond (@16 prot) I still take 30+ damage. If you have a Bonder build that works please post it / pm me.

Farmed just the first room in the hidden city last night for about 3 hours on and off whilst eating my dinner. Got 15 saph essences and sold them for 3k each, so I got immediate sales on them.

I went 600, with a hero smiter and used the DTSC build. Park bonder at the top of the entry stairs and aggro right side + pop ups + the patrol at the back of the room. Then left side both groups + pop ups.

I found Ebon assassin and Finish him sped the run up a wee bit over the standard 600 builds. You can do the whole room in around 5 mins. Rinse n repeat.

(Oh and salvage your ruby essences and roaring ether hearts for .. rubies (duh))

Farmed the city for 3 hours. Got 25 D essences, 13 R essences and 5 S essences. ( 7h/h) for speed on my warrior. Don't have the means to solo on my warrior and its my only character up to that point for now.

Outcome: No sword, No doll.

PS: Wiki listed Nick as taking Grawl necklaces. So I guess wiki, yet again, failed.

I did the quest Gift of the Djinn (you need to finish the mission Dasha Vestibule for this area 1st to get the quest) I killed and killed and killed and got only one for 1 1/2 hours. Got a butt load of ruby ones and a few diamond but the stingy sapphires held on to there crap.

Basic Perma Sliver build and was pumped up by a monk hero so AOE would not kill me over time. You can solo the boss rather easly but i found the Diamond Djinn to be a major pain I mean major painfully slow they spam the angelic and leaders comfort. May need to change to a mesmer perma to see if it is better.

Shoulda quit while I was ahead

Fire Lord dropped THREE ruby essences on my last run (that is, 3 just for me, as I was HH-ing it). Never seen that before. Water Lord was constipated.

A question: On 3 of my 6 runs there was a huge horde of like 40 extra newly spawned djinns hanging out at the two traps on the west path near the south entrance on my way back. On the other 3 runs that portion of the map was a ghost town. Anyone know what determines that, or is it just luck of the draw?

And FYI don't worry about minimizing your group size, because collectable drops are loot scaled. Wiki says it's so, and it's corroborated by the fact that I had about the same average as you guys are quoting with a full HH party.

I was farming the djinns in the same zone as the traveler got 3 the first run 0 second and 2 the third. Lot of nice drops too, elite ele tomes, gold scythes, and lots of grapes.

All of this was done in HM with SV necro.

I'm solo killing the djinns/ethers outside Bastion with ele perma Obs Flesh/Stone Striker/Kinetic/Mantra of Earth build. Slowish, but do-able in NM

Here is what I did to farm 10 sapphire djinn essences. I bring along my 600/smite using both my accounts so I get all the drops.

There are many djinns but there are not many sapphire djinns in the city so find a better area if you can. For the city, I didn't even need the quest and you dont even need to do this in HM, if you prefer not to. You can just kill the sapphire djinns at the starting area of the city and repeat.

I think Anet is tweaking Nics drops cause I am getting stuff all from the stingy sapphires.
Yet I went and did a few runs for Hydra claws and there dropping way better than when Nic wanted them.
I also noticed this when he wanted the Roots a week later when he wasn't collecting them I was getting way more drops per per run.
What do you guys think?

there has always been a theory that the rate of drops is dependant on the number of players farming them.

So more players farming whatever nic wants means that each person gets fewer.

This theory was never really tested and confirmed, just one of this anecdotal things people would always come out with when discussing farming.

I used to believe that it doesnt matter how many players in a zone impact drops, at one point Gaile said as much.

But I was doing lb/ss runs in Sulfurous Wastes. I did it all day, and only ONCE did Alem drop his green.

It is not just killing Djinns but killing the RIGHT kind of Djinns. Also not all sapphire Djinn would drop their essence, so that makes it kind of rare. Personally, I wouldn't waste time killing the other kinds of Djinns, if I dont have to and as far as the essences are concerned, doesn't make a difference between HM and NM.

Obviously i know that, I'm not a noob. ;] There are a couple Sapphire Djinns, at least 5-6 per run and chance to drop essence is not so small that you think - i've got my 5 really fast. Ruby Djinns i just killed by the way, it's not my fault they was in agro. :P

PS. I was farming with active quest "Gift of the Djinn".
