Yet another serious lag issue
My total specs here:
http://www.geocities.com/big_luggage/Report.txt
As you can see, I have more than the recommended specs to go into the game, yet, even on its lowest video setting, the game has some serious lag problems. The game doesn't slowdown, it just stops for 1-5 seconds at a time, sometimes for no reason at all. It happens so frequently that it makes the game pretty much unplayable.
I've downloaded all the newest drivers for my graphics card, the newest version of direct X, and the newest drivers for my motherboard. I cleaned out the inside of my system (including my fans) with compressed air. I defragged. I've done everything that I know how to do, and I hate posting tech help requests, but I'm down to my last option.
Someone here, please, do you know anything that I can do? I'm really on wits end. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. GW looks like a wonderful game, but I have yet to experience much of any of it. Thank you.

I'm having this same problem and also have a GeForce 4 TI 4600 128mb card, as well as an Athlon 2400+. However, I have an Asus mobo with the Nforce2 chipsets. I've tried anything that I could think of, as well as most suggestions that I've run across that didn't fly in the face of reason...with no impact.
I can play, but it takes the patience of a saint, and I've been killed about 10 times due to freezing in the middle of a battle. I have found that it does some good to go ahead and try to anticipate battle with some hotkey commands for attacks and/or healing while the screen is frozen. Sometimes the commands "take", the screen unfreezes and, voila, dead monster. It's also gotten better since I got a pet (Ranger-class), since the pet keeps attacking while I'm stalled out.
I hope the devs are working with NVIDIA, et al, to try to get this figured out.

I was/am having serious lag as i get halfway through missions and the like. then yesterday i opened the client, it shut itself with an error saying i had a hardware error. Pulled out a memory chip and its all fine as far as i can tell.
To summarise
Had 512Mb Ram in 2 chips, one from crucial one from pny.
Pulled out the 256 from pny
So far has run smoother but slower (due to less memory)
I have had no lag since.

Well the lag is in my opinion server-based...

I have the same problem as perturbed and for me it's not server based.

I'd say as a general rule of thumb, when the lag is server based you will be able to move your camera around freely and try to move your char with it rooted to the spot. When related to hardware everything will be going on around you and you will be getting the messages and sounds throuhg slower but the graphics even slower.

May I suggest you download and use this tool, it's interface is pretty simple, and it will optimize your connection:
http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
TCP Optimizer
Also, are you networked in the house? Multiple users will degrade your throughput. You can check your actual speed at a number of websites for free.

Have you run any diagnostics on the system? Defraged it? Checked to see how many programs are running in the background (all you need to do is check your systray for icons) run any anti-spyware or virus software to check for adware and bugs?
That's as far as we can go here. Once you've checked that, hopefully you'll find the problem.
