You would be better off getting a 6600GT as they are around the same price. That is, if you are asking the question because you are looking to buy one

moved to tech.

the card itself is more than enough to run at the maximum settings. however, other parts of your pc may bottleneck your performance.

Dude, I run GW on a 9600 at 1280x1028 resolution, all settings maxed.

A 9800 Pro should be capable of 1600x1200 all settings. Easy.

I have a 9800 pro and can run the game at absolute max.

I did however get some lock ups - I've since downed the resolution and everything appears to be running smoothly *touch wood*

A 9800 pro should have no trouble at all running at high settings.

you know, I'd say something to that, but since it actually has no specific coding, it doesn't matter.

And the 6600GT has superior visual quality as compared tot he 9800, so it's moot anyway.

I use whatever's fastest. Have had three 9800 Pros in my hands, an XT, a 5900 Ultra ES, and this 6600GT. I like the 6600GT the best of all.

And please refrain from the term nvidiot. I'm a former hardware reviewer, and another member of this site can vouch for me. Even if that couldn't, I could throw you a Google search together that would cover my point of view well. Just because you are ATi loyal does not mean the nVidia loyalists are stupid. It means we support someone different. It's choice, not a perversion. Please, grow up.

Yeah, its a bit annoying people always saying to ATI-users to go on nvidia. He's asking something about a Radeon 9800 (which card is perfect) and not which card is better.

So bloody hell, just answer the bloody question!

The 6600GT has "superior visual quality compared to a 9800"? ... to quote lebowski, that's ahh like ah your opinion, man.. Unless you want to prove how the 6600GT has superior visual quality (don't even say SM3.0) that point is moot

Care to link us to some of your hardware reviews? Or what site you reviewed for? Maybe rephrase some of what you said?

" At this point, even if GW is a "Get in the Game" title, it will run better on nVidia. I've tested it. /end fanboyism.
"

oh.. you TESTED it huh..? where's the RESULTS?.. almost every hardware post of yours that I have read has been biased, you even talked about a 6600GT being high-end, it's not high-end, you quack

Sure.

Etching guide done for PimpRig.com...

Case review, also for PimpRig.com.

In addition, this link is just a bit of what I'm known for, in multiple areas of computer work, and I can always post screenshots and ORB links to things like 20k in 3DMark '01 on CPU alone.

Why do I say that? They fixed a lot of the display problems from the FX series (yes, we all knew they had them, but you could fix that with third-party drivers) and improved on 2D quality. I have the opportunity every day to play with ATi AND nVidia, and this time they won.

Oh, and SM 3.0 DOES translate to the desktop. Now, I put up. Can you go toe to toe with that?

Now, back to the thread, if you have the card, you're doing great. Enjoy that card, it's a great piece of work. I had two. It'll run probably everything maxed including AA/AF and postprocessing. Sorry I didn't catch that earlier, and I now return control of the thread to its creator.
