I have a Via chipset motherboard (Shuttle AK32 mobo, with Via KT266 chipset), and I have no problems whatsoever. Using the Hyperion 4.56 drivers.
FWIW.

My best suggestion is NOT to use a mobo video chip. They are horrid at most times. You can get a cheap video card for 100 - 150$ at newegg.com

He means a GART driver, which controls the AGP slot.

This was the main cause of my problems, after going through anything that it could be i simply ran system information, this showed me that my 4in1 drivers were 2 1/2 years out of date. I updated to the 4.56 and all has been fine, so maybe you should add another option - Had these problems but updated motherboard drivers.

can u supply a link to the 4.56 drivers?
i know my mobo is a via mobo cos i use the onboard soundcard and my installation disc installs the avance ac97 sound drivers and i recall the VIA thingie mentioned
the AGP driver really seems to be the prob cos it hangs my com when i plug in my i-pod into the USB slot as well

I have a VIA chipset mobo, and yes it has been restarting, but I'm thinking it's not the chipset but the PSU. I bought my case 2.5-3 years ago, and it included a cheap 350w PSU. It ran fine for the most part, but now that I'm running an AMD64, an FX5900XT, 2 HDDs, 1 CD-RW, 3 fans (2x80mm, 1x120mm), and a few other accessories, I think I'm pushing my PSU to the edge. I think that it drops me on the slightly larger quivers in my power source, or maybe a surge of a component requiring more amperage than normal. I may have to report back as soon as I buy a new PSU (about 1.5 weeks, too much stuff happening to do it earlier). I'm going to get a brand name one that appears to have something like 99%+ positive user reviews on Newegg.

Have done...unless the new 4in1 drivers are less than 1.5 months old. I know my PSU is too low anyway...I really shouldn't be running this setup on a cheap 350w (My case+PSU was only a $50 combo). I have the money, so I think I'll splurge a little.
