No problems here except for my normal abuse to my cables bandwidth lag.
I find they don't mention anything but game changes in their notes. Oh well, just assume the best.

The patches over the last few days haven't helped me... I had to quit on a group on the damned Frost Keep (or whatever it's called) because my system freaked out again... textures all went to hell, all UI stuff disappeared, and when I minimized to hopefully fix it, my system dropped to 800x600x4 and stayed there until I rebooted. I'm getting really frustrated with this, 'cause I can't group with other people without possibly ditching them halfway through 'cause my system chokes, and the missions are too hard now for henchmen. So I'm screwed until somebody fixes this.
Incidentally, I played HL2, UT2004, Brothers in Arms, Call of Duty and a number of other games on this card on max or near max settings, and never had a single problem... so whatever is causing it, it's in the game itself. If the game is overheating my video card, then it's the only one to do it, so that makes it a game problem. I've got a big ol' copper heat-piped heatsink on my CPU, a nice fan on the vid card, and a double-exhaust fan PSU. This thing should NOT be overheating.

I have the exact issue, either my whole screen turns blue or red, alt tabbing or WindowsKEy+M makes my desktop 640x480x16 colors in which case I have to hard reboot. 6800 card here also with massive HSF and all temps are fine and this is the only game it happens with.

What programs are running in the background? Have you tried disabling things like antivirus and other memory intensive programs. Also, how big is your swapfile?

The problem with mine seems to vary .. although it seems to maybe be also when the servers are experiencing more of a load. Though I could be completly off. It seems now like it happens after longer playtime. Like say after a couple of hours. So I honestly have no clue what heck it could be.
What I do know is its rather annoying to be walking with a party, then seeing your textures warp to all hell. Then if that "maybe" corrects itself your screen goes either full blue or red. I'm happy though to see I'm not the only one with the problem (weird to be happy about a problem isn't it?).
Anyway, I really am running out of ideas to try. I tried cleaning the drivers out and reinstall, I tried redoing bios settings. From what I can see also it dosen't *always* happen. It seems to be really random when it does.
I'm lost.

Just had that happen to me as well.
I noticed one of the Ascalon guards head was floating ABOVE his body. Was actually somewhat humorous to see. Then I see waterfalls randomlly appearing in the sky.
Last time I had some graphic issues like this, I just alt tabbed out and bang, everything back to normal.
But this time, my computer went into 800x600x4, with ZERO option to change it to anything else. Its like the graphics driver was completely unloaded. Had to do a reboot.
So yup, looks like an Nvidia issue. Hopelly ANet gets together with Nvidia and works this out. As much as I LOVE Guild Wars, I am not going to go out and buy an ATI card.
Side note: Fast Writes are off. Desktop and Game resolution are same (1024x768). Minimal background app's running. Swapfile is a fixed 2gig.

Don't buy an ATI card hoping to fix this. They are having problems too. I am going to check nvidia's forums and see if there are any posts there relating to this.

What is the average temp of the room your computer is in. Have you tried taking the side of the case off and blowing a room fan into the side. I am seeing a lot of other threads in other forums related to heat issues.

Well I ordered a new video cooler for my card. I talked to BFG also .. and the temps I am seeing (so far) seem to be within limit they claim.) Either way I'm going to put on the new cooler thursday.
I also have 2 120mm fans blowing into the computer. My CPU temps are pretty low which has never been a huge issue for me. Plus I've never had a heat issue with any other the games I play. Such as Brothers in Arms, Riddick, Half Life 2, Doom3, Far Cry. So I don't know. I seem to think it might be a nvidia driver issue, but who honestly knows. I'm trying not to point the finger at anyone.

I also had this problem. I updated to the beta drivers from nVidia (76.50), and haven't had it happen since. Don't know for certain that it fixed it since it was intermittent to begin with, but it hasn't happened in over a week now.

I just downloaded the beta 7300 Forceware drivers from Guru3d, we'll see if that helps any.
Incidentally, I've been playing the last couple nights in a window instead of fullscreen... the error still happens, but I can minimize the screen and go right back in, and it's fixed instantly. The error might happen after 10 minutes or 2 hours, you never know, but as long as I'm running in a window, the minimize/recover trick works every time. Full screen, 9 times out of 10 it was the 800x600x4 thing, and a reboot to fix. So if your system can handle it, give it a try... and since it instantly recovers simply by minimizing for less than a second, it pretty much rules out overheating... plus the software that came with my video card (Gigabyte 6600GT) says the overheat level isn't reached until 145C, and I've seen mine running about 90, so it's not even close.
I hope these new drivers help... I usually don't use beta vid drivers, but then I usually don't have problems either.
Oh and before anyone says anything else about "it's your rig, maintain your PC better, blah blah", I'm a PC tech by trade, 12 years now... my machine is fine, has been through 5 upgrades in the last 4 years, and I'm still getting this problem. It's something game/driver related, it just comes down to who's going to fix it for us. My fingers are crossed, I'll let everyone know if it helps any.
Specs if anyone cares:
Gigabyte GA K8N Ultra SLI w Athlon64 3000+ (tons of room to grow)
1GB DDRAM (not new, but still fine)
Gigabyte 6600GT PCI-E
WD SATA 180gb HDD 7200RPM
WD EIDE 120gb HDD 7200RPM
450watt PS
Linksys Wireless 802.11g PCI adapter
Cable internet (3mb max or so)

I have been having the same problem. Screen goes all red or blue, have to either minimize or reboot to fix it. I've checked my system in other games, as well as have all updates, patches and am not overclocking.
My system specs:
MSI K8N Neo ILSR Mainboard
Athlon64 3400+ DTR (~2.2Ghz)
1GB PC3200 DDR (2x512)
GeForce 6800 GT w/Zalman Cooling system
2x 80GB Maxtor SATA HDDs 8MB Buffer, 7200 RPM
2x 80GB Maxtor IDE HDDs 8MB Buffer, 7200 RPM (Storage only)
MSI Dual Layer DVD R/W
Antec NeoPower 480W PS
Liquid Cooled CPU ~90-100 F
Video Card Air Cooled ~100-110 F
Guild Wars is the only game that I have these types of issues with, among a plethora of games that I have.

If I'm really lucky I can minimize and get back in and it's OK, but many times it just stays like that, and Windows gets stuck in 800x600x4 color mode, and only a reboot will fix it. It's almost gotta be an Nvidia driver issue, although I'm running the newest version currently on Nvidia's website (71.89).

This is exactly how it happens with me. I have a nVidia 6800 vanilla. It happened both running stock, as well as when it was OCed. I know it's not a heat issue, because it has never happen to any other game. I play a lot of HL2 deathmatch, H&D2 online, and others.

Could be an nVidia thing, you're right.

That's good for you Now instead of wasting time try to find an answer to these guys' problem. I have no problems playing either, but I am trying to help them, for the most part.

I'm finding that it's only GW that has this problem where the graphics just go all over the place. Trees take the place of folk, or stuff just appears. The scenery just blends all together. Then the controls all poof and I'm left in one place.
Have upgraded the drivers so unless it's a bad day, then I'm going to have to do more research. I turned the video option down and that seemed to help but now it's returned and in full force.
I want to play! GW is the only game that this happens with as all others are fine.
GEforce 6800 GT, but going to see about other drivers now (using 7.1.8.9)
