Err 5
I just recently bought the game, and installed it on my computer. Then, when I go to create an account, the last step where I enter my email address and pw and hit create, it says connecting, and then it gives me and error message saying that it cannot connect because of a network/routing issue.
I just recently installed a wireless router for my laptop to my home computer, and I am not sure if that is causing the problem or not. I have allowed guild wars into my firewall program so that is not a problem. And I know that my internet is working because I am on this forum with my laptop. :P I have also checked the support topics on the GW site, but nothing is helping. So can anyone help me fix this problem? Thank you.
(Still annoyed that I payed $50 US for the game and I can't even play )

What kind of router is it? My wireless router has some serious firmware issues where it cannot connect to anything off port 80 (the port for web pages) so it cannot connect to any games. Contact your router manufacturer for a firmware update or other procedures.

Sounds like a good idea. Even checking the Router Website forums for similar issues, would be a good thing too.
I remember one Router I bought brand new, Wireless, well known and top class Brand. Too many problems with the ROuter, Firmware updates wouldn't fix it, and then it died. All this after a few weeks of use. It went back and got my money back. I went back to my original router(Not wireless), and it's flawless.
I did purchase a new wireless Router, which is 100 times better than this big brand name, works with my laptop out in the garden without falling over at all, and has a faster speed when using it.
Haven't tried it with GW yet, as i play on my desktop and not laptop, but I'm interested to see if it has any problems.
Summer coming up, GW in the garden, with a cold beer and BBQ.
Addition - Check this website. It's a great resource for all things Broadband.

Same thing here, I cant get in the game. I could before but since a day, it gives me that Err=5. I tried to connect my computer directly to the Internet but it doesnt help, closed my firewall too...I sent a letter to Anet about it and waiting for an answer. If they find a fix or something I ll be back here with results.
