major lag issues
Here is my problem.
Since coming home from school ive been having Major Lag problems.
My computer is a 1.7ghz AMD
ive got 512 megs of Ran
a Geforce 4600 Ti
we have DSL broken by a normal broadband router
at school I had some slowdown loading zones
now that I'm home I'm having a different issue. Every few seconds the game will freeze than I will see everything that happened while I was frozen go by fast. I will get a few seconds of play - than it will freeze again. I've done everything I know to do. Ive should all other programs, turned of the other computers on the network, but nothing has happened.
any ideas would be lovely.

Is that on a laptop? Whenever a laptop gets over 141F, the preformace just keeps going down and down until it overheats. Try keeping it on your lap, but it might burn you, or try keeping it on a glass table or something that is cold. If you are on a desktop, try updating the GeForce 4600 Ti card. There was a thread about this here i believe, and it said to turn down the graphics from high settings or something to upgrade/downgrade drivers. Here it is, i know its for FX cards, but it might work for you. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=18434
Make sure that your computer isnt overheating, because preformance decreases drastically, and since you are playing at school, im guessing you have a laptop with an inferior graphics card.

I'm not sure how to solve the issue the opening poster is having, but I don't think it's a matter of the computer overheating. What you're talking about ElRey is when you see one frame of action then jump ahead to a different frame, then jump again, etc., missing out on parts of what's happening. What the opneing poster described is when the game lags and everything stops (characters don't move, skills don't activate, text doesn't go through when you try to talk to others in-game, etc) due to a lack of information being recieved from the server. Then suddenly the information arrives and it shows everything that happened while you were lagged, only in fast forward. (This is somethign I don't think it could do if it were merely graphics lag.)
I would like to find a solution to the issue, too...I've been having a similar problem occasionally and it can make it really really hard to play. -_-;

Another note:
Ive dropped the graphics to 800x600 with the lowest graphics setting. Still having problems. What i think is going on here is a network problem.

Just to get this right, is it the Home or The School we are talking about here?
How long have you had the Linksys Router, what model number is it?
Check out this website which is a resource full of Broadband Goodness.
www.dslreports.com
They should have details of your Router there and any possible issues that can be caused if certain settings are not correct.
They are a real bundle of information there regarding all things Broadband.
They can also assist with any firewall issues related to the Router as well, which may cause lag.
ALso, do you have any firewall software installed on your PC? If so, which one?
One other thing, do you have any virus software installed on your PC? If so, which software and try disabling it while playing to see if the problem persists.

Symantec AntiVirus 9. The option to disable it is grayed out

The option to disable the virus software is greyed out or the option to uninstall the virus is not available. If you can uninstall it, try a full uninstall of the virus software.
Obviously, if the problem is still there after you uninstall it, then we need to look at something else, but give that a shot first.
Also, when you say the router works fine at school, is that the Router and your PC or just the Router?
Addition Forgot to add this bit. Have you configured the Firewall on the router at all?

Here are some thing you can do if the forementioned techniques don't work:
1.) Goto: http://www.broadbandreports.com to benchmark your highspeed connection and follow any suggestions from the site.
2.) Change settings on your Nvidia card. If your download coolbits for your card there is a setting that tells your system how many frames to prerender. Generally this is set to 3 or 5. Lower the setting to 2 or 1 and this should stop the jump. Reason: in high speed multiplayer games the information changes quite readily, if the prerendered image is different than the transmitted data the card has to stop and reload the image therefore causing lag/jumping.
3.) Tweak your antialsing setting. GW sets it to 0 you might have to bump it up to 2

If nothing works above, It's your processor I think, 90% sure of it, get a better processor, maybe AMD Athlon 2400+ from www.ebuyer.com - Cheap, cheaper than NewEgg also.
Something like this:
AMD Sempron 2300+ - £40.25 (including VAT).
Decent 1 I found there.
