Default Guild Wars auto-minimizing

My computer is on a home network with one other computer (a laptop) that my mom uses for work. We have one printer (a Dell printer) and it is connected to the computer I am on, but it is shared across the network. When my mom prints something out from her laptop the little printer status bar window pops up on my screen. This normally wouldn't be a problem except that the window popping up causes Guild Wars to minimize (I am running Guild Wars full-screen), and it takes over a minute to finish minimizing and then a similar amount of time to come back up when I click on the Guild Wars icon in the taskbar (I am using Windows XP). I have had this problem with other games before so it is highly unlikely that it is a problem with Guild Wars specifically? Is there some setting in the OS that you can change to tell it not to automatically minimize anything?

AFAIK Dell printers are rebranded Lexmark printers. The only solution you really have is to disable the printer status window. This will prevent it from coming up. You'll still get the printer icon in the system tray, but you won't get the popup window. To disable it goto Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes. Then right click your printer and select properties. Click the Printing Preferences button on the bottom of the General tab. If your printer really is a rebranded Lexmark you should have a custom window open, on the upper right you should see something called "Options". Click it for a dropdown menu. Select Printer Status Options from the list. Finally select to disable the Printer Status window.

I hope this solves your problem.

Sounds about right to me. Was something along the lines of what I was going to say.

Addition. Another solution if that doesn't work for you, is to purchase a Network Printer box. Hook it up to your Network Router, and then run the printer off there. This will work very well, and means you can also switch your PC off, so you don't have to keep it on all the time so your mom can print.

The printer will then be connected to the PC's via an IP address and will work in the same manner but won't affect your PC.
