Insane Lag Problems
Right, when I start to play GW I will get some insane lag spasms. I can't walk/move for like 10-30 seconds at a time.
Here are my comp specs...
(CMP) 1-Intel® Celeron® CPU 2.40GHz, 2399MHz, 0KB (100% Load)
(RAM) usage: 403/512MB (78.71%)
(GFX) RADEON 9250
(Display) 1024x768/32bit/75Hz
(OS) Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2 (5.1 - 2600), (installed for) 4d 12h 39m, (uptime) 1d 7h 30m 3s .:. (HDDs) 18.3GB/31.4GB(58.2%) free
I play GW at the lowest settings visually, and have no music. All I run besides GW is mIRC. If anyone could figure out the problem I would be extremely happy. Thanks again.

Dont run mirc at the same time, that program can use huge amounts of bandwidth with bots and trojans and downloads.

1.) What kind of connection do you have, and what speed is it?
2.) Restart your computer once in a while, there's a reason Microsoft release seperate server editions of their operating systems.

i used to have lag all the time back when i lived in arizona, which was less than a week ago. being on a wireless broadband connection there was horrible. for a good while, i was beginning to think it was my video card- ati radeon pci 9250 256mb ddr. well, now that i'm on a solid connection, i can easily say it's not that, but it was indeed my unreliable, unstable connection over there. now i have zero lag.

On my gf's pc, it used to be very laggy in town. here's the spec:
AMD 1500mhz.
GeForce 3 (fisrt gen)
256mb.
Connection is a 5mb.
So I just increase ram to 768mb (333Mhz), and now, its running smooth, all details set to max.

Couple of questions, You say nothing else is running? No anti-virus, no firewall, no anti-spyware? Is this the only game or graphics intensive app you use that causes this or do all games and the like cause similiar situations for you? What is your connection? Dial-up, DSL, or Cable? Wireless?
Secondly, you say when you start, does the problem correct itself after 10 - 30 seconds then runs fine or are you saying you can't move every 10 - 30 seconds or every so often in game, you get a lag spike and can't move for 10 - 30 seconds?
Answer to secondly: if its the first scenerio, relax. if its the second scenerio, you have something going on whether you are running something or not, something isn't working properly as your specs are just fine and are almost identical to mine and I have 0 issues with ventrillo running along with anti-viru and a firewall. So if second scenerio, the first thing I would do is run some diagnostics on the machine. What you want to test is memory to make sure you don't have failing stick, HDD to make sure you don't have a failing drive. I would then scan the machine looking for virus and spyware. There are lot of free online scanners out there. If the scans don't turn up anything, do some system maintenance. Run Disk clean up and defrag the hard drive and see if that helps. If its the third scenerio, could be network issues either on Anets side or your IP's side. About the only thing you can do here is just hang tight for the few secs and ride it out. You may want to make sure nothing is coming on while you play (I know if my anti-virus decides to start scanning my HDD, I get a bit of lag).

I don't use my mIRC to dl anything.
And, i'm running no firewall, no anti-virus, or anything of the sort.
My connection is > 256k DSL. It's not Wireless.
This is the only game that causes this as I can run Half Life 2 and MoH fine.
Also, the lag spikes will last for 10-30 seconds then I can move for around 1-3 minutes, then it will happen again.
