Okay. This is what happens. Every time i use my computer for the day, shut it off and go to sleep, something wierd happens. I wake up, turn it on, and i get a "CMOS Checksum Error: Defaults loaded". When this happens, my boot up process screws up, and it comes up with a NIC ethernet thing that is trying to find my GUID and gives me my mac address. After that, it says system boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. So i do that, and it keeps saying insert system disk and press enter. The only thing that i can do to fix this is to load the "Fail Safe defaults" in my bios. I have a VNF3-250 Chaintech Zenith Value Board. I also have Phoenix Award Bios on my motherboard. Can anyone help me resolve this problem?

Your motherboard has a battery [with a special model number on it] that looks like this. It needs to be replaced. You can purchase them cheap at your local Radio Shack or electronics store.

For my motherboard, the battery model is CR2032. I think this is standard, I'm not sure.

Make sure to replace it when the power is off of course.

I got the motherboard about 20 days ago. does it still need to be replaced?

Yes but they may have been stored in a warehouse or factory for quite some time. Most likely a faulty battery.
