Graphics problems
I've searched forums with no answer ... Having major issues - see the following screens. Totally random. Will occasionally close to a corrupt desktop, sometimes once GW closes everything is fine.
Specs:
Athlon64 3200+
PCI-E Gforce 6600
1 gb RAM
Heat shouldnt be a problem, if the NVIDIA software is to be believed (CPU temp 105F, case temp 85F.) Voltages are all good. Is this a driver issue, or is my VC overheating? Happens at all different res, windowed and full screen.
Thanks.

I have the same problem.
I have an Intel 3.0 Ghz coupled with a GeForce 6800 (AGP).
I can hit M to go to the map screen and then select a zone and zone in to reset the graphics, but I still usually have to quit the game and restart to get stability back. I don't think it is heat related either due to watching it happen at all GPU/Case Temps.

I've seen that kind of corruption only once and that was when I put 2 diffrent speeds of ddr ram into my pc at once (idiot at the store told me it would work deffinatly. I should have knowen better then to trust a salesmans word, even if he was A+ certified).
Anywho, im not sure what the problem could be if its just comming from the graphics card, but maybe the additional info might help someone with the answer.

Well,... I ruled out over heating issues since I run other games that get the card and PC hotter and did not notice the issue.
I doubt it is your described RAM issue since I have DDR500 ram running at 400Mhz. Both Sticks are a matched pair.
Since hitting M and going to another district resets the graphics it would appear to be an issue with the game; though I am not sure why it would happen only to certain people... still researching.

Just out of interest, what if anything have you tried already?
There are lots of possible things to try located in posts whether related to your PC spec or not. I know it may not be related to your specific problem, but I can say for sure that most of what is in those posts will be said here.
It's the same for anyone with problems. All the same tech stuff is tried to try and find a solution, from Ram timings and BIOS settings to Drivers and Hardware related issues.
Please post you full system spec and anything you have already tried so it saves anyone from repeating what you may have tried already.
I would highly recommend trying some things already mentioned in posts located in these Tech Forums related to graphics and drivers issues.

Well, lessee. Mobo is generic N-Force 4 Ultra. RAM is matched pair of Kingston DDR400. Nothing OC'ed, RAM timings are (not at my computer, so from memory) something like 3-3-3-8 (default BIOS settings.) Running WinXP Pro. Only background tasks running are firewall and anti-virus. Occasionally have Winamp running, but has happened with and without Winamp running.
After posting, tried running around for a while with hench-people, system ran fine without a single hiccup. Played for almost two hours that way. (On the plus side, I gained about a level and a half.)
I have tried running at 800x600 up to 1280x1024, with all different image quality settings. I have tried changing my default gfx settings in the NVIDIA control panel - where possible, leaving everything "Controlled by application" except for one tab where I bumped the slider to "High Quality." (Again, I'm now at work and can't remember what the tab is, precisely.)
Occasionally, I can press 'M' and things will return to normal. Today, discovered that saving screen caps worked. Pressing 'enter' occasionally works. No other discoveries so far. Keyboard/input still works properly, so game is running normally - just not displaying correctly.
Seems to be perhaps a game-specific bug, since HL2 and Doom3 and every other game I have run with no problems.
That's all I can think of ... any thoughts?

Ok, as Nforce 4 is still relatively new, not really much I know about those at the moment and there probably isn't much in the way of new drivers to update to.
With regards to your 6600, what level of driver are you running? If you have the latest installed, try rolling back to a much earlier version.
Increase the AGP Aperture Size to double the limit of your Graphics Card and try turning off AGP Fast Write.
You should also run the driver Cleaner between uninstall and reinstall. Both Cleaner and drivers can be obtained from www.guru3d.com
One last thing to try, and this may sound a little strange, but it has caused me a few problems with Guild Wars over the last week. It isn't related to graphics, but one process after GW shuts down sits there at 100% CPU usage. I can't shut it down, and a soft reboot doesn;t work either. As I reboot, the same process starts running at 100% again. I have to switch off and then reboot.
So, the file is part of my Zone Labs Security Suite and I keep getting errors from Microsofts .Net Broadcast software. So, I decided to completely remove .Net Software.
The only reason I say this, is because Guild Wars is the only piece of software I have installed and updated recently and the last few updates is when this problem started. So, I would suggest trying a full uninstall of .Net Software and see if this helps at all.
It's a long shot, but it's the only thing I have had go wrong on my machine in the last few major Guild Wars updates.
At the end of the day, only try one of these solutions at a time so you know which one works best or works at all in any way.
This will help others that have similar problems when you post it back here.

have you tried turning down the vid option?
i have seen something similar on my firendspc, he had the fx5200 Nvidia, and untill he poped the slider to the lowest setting, his green grass turned to desert sand ^^.
they do say that there is a problem with *some* of the newer Nvidia cards, and that having those set to highest can cause problems. have you also kept you windows, dirX and vid card drivers up to date?
my problem was that the hair used to dissapear on the characters at char creation, but once i updated to DirX9 and used the new all in one Nvidia driver, that went
(hopes one of us gets it right to fix it for you )

Upgraded my VC's drivers to the latest NVIDA-ware - forget what they are but they were just released in the last week or so. No crashes since - but one thing I've realized is that this happened much more often when playing with real live people, rather than henchies, and lately, just been playing with henchfolk - but that's a topic for another forum.
If anything else develops I'll post. Thanks for all the replies.

When I was running on the old card had a lot of weirdness, oddly most of it was visable to other players. I walked over the bridge and was going to hit the lever so my partner could enter the gate and before I got there sunk under the ground where both feet became obscured and I couldn't move. I was running after a grawl and chased him through a closed door where I fought him on the other side. Also crashes when I would zone. I was having tons of problems on my gforce card, switched to an ATI Radion and have had none.
