Connection Problems
Hey all
I have been happily playing GW for bout a month now and enjoying it but as of monday night i can not connect it was fine monday daytime but all i could do is log into my account then when i tried to start my character all i got was connecting and now i don't even get that far it just says connecting to arena.net then stops on Downloading ad it says 0kb/0kb i have read thru all of the technicians corner and as far as i can tell the only solution is to try a few things with my firewall and the game itself (uninstalling and reinstalling) which i have done and it has not made a difference i have emailed the support at guild wars.com but have not had anything back despite it now being 30+ hours and they said they would get back to me within 24 hours i have a feeling that the problem is on there end but the only people i currently kno who live in the uk are people i have met on GW which means i cannot find out if they cannot connect either without getting on myself
here is my spec if it helps
AMD Athlon 1.7Ghz
512Mb DDR Ram
Nvidia Geforce 4 mx 64mb
My connection is Broadband 2Mb
and i connect thru a Netgear DG834 Router
Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated as i have exhausted all of the things i can think of to try

Have you tried contacting you local internet provider and asking them if you are connected properly?
Can you access any internet related material?
(if so then i am stumped.)

well you could try this..
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ghlight=router
Thou hes using the DG834G
But ive set up the forwarding and static ip address, checked and double checked etc.. GW still keeps crashing out on me... heh looks like i wont be playing GW anymore, heh i mean till its fixed..
What i dont understand is all my other games and net related proggys work fine..
on another note.. i had this router for over about a year before it died and it worked fine with GW since release.. i got my replacement yesterday.. so i dont think its the router.

Elite, you are not the only one who is having a problem with the connnection issue. I have a lvl 20 W/Mo (first char) that is locked up. All was fine until I tried to enter Elona Reach in the desert. The game froze at the loading picutre and started bouncing back and forth between connecting/ downloading. It only got as high as 5% loaded and would just sit there. I left it alone for more than an hour and nothing.
I have since opend a ticket with the GW support team, has been opened for almost three weeks. I went through the ususall stuff about connection speed, firewall, etc. That is not the issue, as I can acess my other PvE and PvP chars with no problem. The last item on there was that they have passed it to the bug report team and that they would let me know. So for right now I am in limbo waiting on this. I had to create another char to play PvE because of this.
Dont know if this is similar to your issue or not, let me know if it is.

the fact that your problem is character related Ozarka is without a doubt proof that the error you are experiencing is a server issue with ArenaNet...You paid 50 bucks...they owe you some sort of technical support for that money. I'd get on them again...and again...and again until they fix it.
The OP. Have you tried plugging your computer directly into the modem and foregoing the router at this point. The problem MAY be either UPnP or Port Forwarding that was triggered by a recent update or streamed patch. Plug your computer directly into the modem and see if you can access the game. let us know what you find.

thanks alot mate i followed all the instructions in this thread and i am back online with GW to the guy havin the same problems as me read this thread and i am sure it will sort out your problem. GW connected first time tho there was alot of lag in the towns but i think that is coz it looks like arenanet have got rid of alot of the european servers and changed them to different languages for each server which means the english one gets really full
