Any hacks available to make me a hole in company firewall for GW ?
I am forced now to spend long periods away from home, connecting through a company server....
Needless to say, no GW in periods....
Any hints, hack suggestions on how to sneak GW.exe through the firewall, server etc ?

Actually i'm able to use GW, even though my company has put up a firewall, but i guess security isn't that tight where i work...
You should do a search on "tunneling" or more directly, use a program called "HTTP Tunnel" which will allow you tunnel through your company's firewall... their low bandwidth servers are free, high bandwidth servers will cost you money. check it out, might be worth it...
Also i should warn you that your boss/company won't appreciate you doing this, it's why they had the firewall put up in the first place...
(BTW: mods, i'm assuming this kind of request isn't breaking any forum rules?)

I'm considering getting a laptop for portable GW gaming, but I have to wait for my cell phone company to upgrade to a 3G network. I wouldn't recommend using your company resources for such activity... you never know if they're watching network traffic.

in order for that to work youd have to find a way to locally tunnel the trafic from guild wars ports to an allowed port on the server/corporate firewall such as 25, 80, 110, 180, 8080, commonly unblocked ports at larger companies.
but id be creful depending on the companies some actually consider that hacking

Get a new job, if you want to play GW at work, you're obviously not enjoying it.

I have a job that's 3rd shift- so I have several hours of down time in the middle of the night. The OP might be in a similar position.
I wouldn't advise playing Guild Wars at work- for one you can get in trouble for installing your software and hacking, and two do you really want to be in the middle of an important mission when you get an unexpected call that you absolutely have to take?
My advice is to pick up a game boy and a game that you can pause or save at your leisure- I have Final Fantasy Tactics advance and it serves me very well during those long hours.

You could try to call your It department and see let them know what's happening (if it's ok for you to do this) and they may be able to open those ports up for you . Mind you if your not suppose to be doing this, calling would be a red flag.

Ok, coming from a guy that runs and maintains firewalls like the one you are trying to hack, I just thought I'd let you know that hacking or circumventing any such security my very well be agains the SOX laws (Sarbanes Oxley, those retards). You would need to clear it with your IT dept. And in some places hacking said firewall may also be illegal. But other than that go for it. I only wish I could play my beloved GW at work too.

Of course hacking a firewall wouldn't be the wisest thing to do. But tunneling your programs thru a HTTP tunnel so the will travel thru the firewall is a whole other things, and nobody can belong you for that.

I don't know why anyone would want to play at work. Hard enough to concentrate at home. I have plenty of distractions at home to mess me up. It is not a easy game to play and just stop to do something work related.
I would fire you in a heartbeat.

when on a company thing out of town there were hours where we had nothing to do... after work hours etc....... i had to log onto the company server through my laptop to acess the internet with out paying an exurbanat fee at the conventiocenter we were at, well with gw staring at me from my laptop you bet i used a tunnel to play.... but then again i am friends with our it guy and he let me know it was fine. but i think the op is in a similar situation... away from home.. downtime he can use..... i say go for the tunnel or if you're not afraid of getttin red flaged ask your it guys!

Id be wary or packet logging, even if you tunnel. Someplaces monitor bandwidth usage and like to see why more is being used then normal. I doubt guild wars uses a bunch of bandwidth but if enough people jump on board or if its monitored closely you might find your self in a good bit of trouble, especially if they log all packets. Im not sure how tunneling would work or what kind of packets you might find, but something like excess bandwidth usage or above normal useage might be a red flag to.

depending on the company it is a good way to get fired at best and possibly in serious legal trouble at worst
but hey if losing your job is less important than a game go for it
