Go to your motherboards manufacturer website, search for your motherboard and check what RAM is compatible.
Most probally (unless you have a old board) PC3200, 2800, 2400. DDR 400.

Huh?! To upgrade your ram IS to spend money on NEW sticks of ram. I just wanted you to know that.
Since you haven't put down any specs of your system' (Make, Model, Processor, etc) we here can't fully help you. We do not know if all your ram slots are filled. If they are filled then you would need all new sticks to increase your amount of ram. There also is different kinds of ram. You have to know what kind you need.
So if you have a Store boughten PC, then take it in and have them look at it. If you have an online boughten PC then go to their website.
Maybe a online system checker might work for you. Try www.pcpitstop.com They run your system through a bunch of tests. I believe they can "see" the info you want.

I prefer the free version of Everest, which is amazingly easy to understand, even for the average home PC user.
It's available here: http://www.lavalys.hu/products/overv...?pid=1&lang=en

For $252.93 including TAX, I figured that is not too shabby. You can get the Ballistix and Ballistix Tracer for about double if you want the fastest out there, but I do not see that need for me. That Ballistix ram sure looks cool with its flashing lights and all that. But, it would be a waste on me with a 533mhz speed system I have now.

Download the program CPU-z. You can look it up at any search engine sites.
And if you want to run at Dual Channel, you must have 2 of the exact same ram.

You can get yourself around 1 gig of dual channel pc3200 ram for about 30 dollars. I saw it about two days back, by the way it doesn't have too great of timings.

I saw 1 gig dual channel corsair xms timings are 2-3-3-6 for intel and 2.5-3-3-6 for amd for about 129.99 on newegg.
The one I told you about for 30 dollars has timings of 3-8-8-10 and is from a not so well known company. I'm still trying to find the link. I think I bookmarked it, but I can't seem to find it.
