dont know about that, we have had 2 machines need to be nuked (thats the term we use for compleat wipe of windows, with prejudice hehe)
turned out they had been cracked and someone was using them for Undernet.
i am told this is where some netjockies see a nice machine with fast broadband conection, reasonable specks and decent hard drive size (usually a fast processor and over 80gig hard drive) and open it up online and use it to run as their own personal server..without the owners knowing it.
the poor guys came in telling us a horror story of trying to log into their windows and finding all thier admin rights gone, 20 or so people on their machine and copies of games running that they never even knew were out there...only way for them to close down the machine was to unplug it from the mains....
their service provider told them to get it wiped, pronto, so they broung it to us....
and one of my friends machined *Did* get 'hacked'.....the hacker left a note on the machine...
appologising for entering his PC, because they mistook it somehow for a buisness corp type one, and telling him how to avoid it happening again....
that just blew me away...
