GW GUI Corruption only on Mission entry
Hey everyone, I looked all over to find a fix for this but I can't find anyone that has the problem. I have owned GW since it first came out and all was good. About a month and a half ago I uninstalled it and took a break from the game. Now I am back and installed it from the CD set. Everything seemed to go ok and it was updated without errors.
Problem is the GUI of guild wars, all the images posted between loads, the menus, and the on-screen text becomes corrupted all over the screen. This only happens during a mission load, and it happens right after the count down timer reaches 00:00. It hangs there for 10 seconds then corrupts. To make things better it will not currupt everytime, but I tested for days now and this is only when it happens. The 3d graphics will still display and run with no problems. Here are my specs: AMD 3000+ 400fsb 1Gb Corsair Ram Cas2.5 400fsb ASUS A7N8X-E GF4 Ti4400 Maxtor 80gb SATA HD Cdrom drive TV tuner card Latest nVidia motherboard driver pack installed. And video drivers are 71.84 forceware WHQL. Nothing has been overclocked or set to run beyond manufacturer specifications. As you can see, computer has no other pci slots being used or any other cards in it. It is a very basic computer. I use onboard nVidia soundstorm and onboard NIC card. This problem has me halting my play of GW because it is very serious issue. I have only played with henchmen almost all the way to Henge of Denravi because if it corrupts I have to exit the game. (I won't make any friends leaving 5 seconds after a mission starts if it corrupts) And it isn't possible to play well with the corruption, can't see any of the text or GUI. I have tried all sorts of adjustments, things that have changed since before I uninstalled it were very little. Maybe at most a video driver update. And I tried all sorts of nVidia drivers from 81.84 to this 71.84. The new ones don't load textures of people in certain towns but no problems seen with the 71.84 except for the unstoppable GUI corruption. I'll give better explanations later if needed but now I have PM class. Thank you for reading. *Edit: I wanted to add some more to the story here... I'm using Winxp SP2 on this computer. I have done some more thinking about things that have changed since now and then, and I really can't recall anything besides the video drivers. Now, I play the game @ 1280 x 1024 all settings high. Have also changed the agp aperature from 32mb to 512mb and anywhere in between, still no fix. Paging file is fixed and at 1536mb. I am really confused about this whole problem, on top of that the computer is only 3 months old except for the video card. It is only in GW that I see such problems. Last thing to note is that the game pauses on the 00:00 counter to mission begin. It didn't in the previous install, I was usually among the first to appear in the game after the mission was loaded. Now I am usually the last and people have run off attacking stuff. Reinstalled the game twice now in the last two days to see if that would help, it did not. Looking at two things myself, the last two that I can think of, that is mainboard drivers and video drivers. Anyone out there have issues with the forcewares? My video card is old maybe I should go way back to version 50.xx or 40.xx of the drivers. Edit #2: Lastly the corrurption with the gui can rarely be fixed by minimizing the screen, other times closing the entire game and bringing it back will not help.
