Do you have a lot of internet tabs open? Or webpages that use a lot of resources? Maybe lots of graphics/flash/etc..?

Flash ads are pretty much the only thing I've noticed that slow up Firefox.
An ad-blocker or something to that extent would probably help if that's what's causing your problem.

It's the flash adverts (smiley one) on this Website is what lags me, if they were removed or I could block the URL they came from, I'd be fine.

Heh you ain't the only one that does it Josh XD
And my back-up Dell has 1.6 GHZ Williamette and it runs it smooth as butter, RAM is probably a factor. If you have 256MB it is probably bottlenecking.

i have 1 gig of ram
its the flash ads that are doing it. I hate the IPOD banner. i like to look up resources while i play. might have to go back to IE
how can i block the ads or can i disable the flash so they can't upload?

Ok but I still don't see how they can be lagging you. My dell has 512MB RAM and it doesn't lag.
Well that is your choice, but your sacrificing speed for security :P
