Dream Computer Ples?
What would be your dream computer? You could either build one or buy one from a manufacturer. I of course would build one. Money is not an issue, get as creative as you want.
Case: Custom steel molded case w/ allure brushing, and a bunch of skate stickers
Cooling: Either phase change, or my current dry ice
PSU: PC Power and Cooling 510W SLI Express PSU
Motherboard: Tyan Sever Motherboard Dual Opteron Socket 940
Processors: Dual (2x) AMD Opteron 280 Italy 1ghz FSB Socker 940
Video Card: Well since Tyan doesn't really use PCI-E, I had to pick a AGP video card, so I would choose the 6800GT and OC the hell out of it.
RAM: 2GB G. Skill Extreme Series Samsung TCCD PC4800 RAM
Hard Drives: 2x74GB 10k Raptors in RAID 1
CD/DVD Drive: Plextor Black IDE DVD Burner
Sound Card: Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2ZS Gamer Edition
Speakers: Logitech Z-5500 5.1
Monitor: Samsung 46" LCD Monitor
Mouse: Diamondback Razer 1600dpi, the Copperhead is wayyy too much dpi for me
Keyboard: Logitech G15

I would swap the mobo for a nice SLI piece with an nVidia chipset (maybe A8N-SLI) and dual 7800GTX .
If you limit yourself on the GPU power then the dual Opterons would be wasted. Some really high clocked AMD X2 CPU would be much better.
Of course this applies to a gaming PC

My dream computer would be anything I could buy for about $5000.00.
Heck with that building stuff anymore....I am too lazy now for that.

On a second thought ... I'd say replace that mobo powered RAID array with a dedicated PCI RAID controller and add about 4-6 hard drives in RAID 5.
Better to mount that lot in a rack then. So there goes your custom brushed case

I didn't say it had to be a gaming PC, I meant in general.
The 2 opterons are dual core, and if overclocked properly could smoke anything that has been out 2x over.

Best comp under 1500$
I posted something along these lines around September-October.
Can anyone give me accurate specs for a gamming computer that would be around 1200-1500$ CDN
Without these things:
Screen, keyboard, mouse, Ati Radeon XL800 video card, 250Mb RAM card and Windows XP and all basic programs.
Keep in mind that the board has to accept Ati Radeon cards.
I would appreciate any and/or all help offered on this.
A compilation and/or list would be nice.

I just bought compy parts just under 1200$ US monies.
Look at my thread.
But my stuff was WITH keyboard, mouse, 1gb of ram. (No Windows I have someone that I can take the cd from. =P)
But... a mobo for a ATI Card shouldn't be that expensive, give or take 200 bucks. The most expensive thing was my v-card. Geforce 7800GT PCI Express x16.
Erm would the mobo have to be AMD or Intel btw?
