Ditto here- just got an Alienware mobile PC that I'm reviewing (GeForce 6800 video installed) and I get this every time I "F9" to open my bags. I see the hard drive flashing for about 10-15 seconds, during which my frame rate drops to 2-5 FPS and I get missing world textures. My settings are on High and I assume the driver is current (since they just built it). What's weird is that on my desktopn system (which also uses a GeForce 6800) I have no issues in this regard whatsoever. Hmmm... Anyone have any ideas?

That's why after 8 months of playing I got sick of it, in the bags in inventory or on the bonus/mission shield screens freeze up for 3-5 secs and then comes back. I finally went out and bought an ATI video card since this game is optimized for that. Problems solved.
P.S. By the way, hit F9 to get into inventory, might help a bit

Ok, me & my GF had the same problem with her intell 82845 Graphics card in her laptop.
I solved the problem by using the following programme
http://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/tools/3d_analyze/
I cant remember the settings i used... but... when i get home i can have a look unless you figure it out before me.
Let me know how u get along
Edit: oh this stopped her crashin full stop.... she was having the inventory crash like the OP.. and now its perfect

OK so here is other solution not the best but it quite help.
1. set your destop resolution at a lower level than the one you use in the game.
2. For example in my game im using max resolution, and in the desktop im usin a lower.
I simply dont understan but this help my problem alot.
Im goin to try this 3dfxzone.tool
