ALT+TAB issues
Hey all, I've been playing for about a half year now and since the update last night, I've started noticing a couple technical issues. Every once in a while I alt+tab out of the guild wars client, either to check something up online or to open up ventrilo or whatever. But lately, I'd say about 10% of the time when I alt+tab, my client freezes and I have to restart my computer. I will try to alt+tab back into GW and the cursor will change to the guild wars one. I can still move, I can type, but my screen only displays my windows desktop. When I hit the start menu button the menu appears but I can't click on anything. I'm currently running an AMD Athlon 3400+ on an ASUS motherboard, 1 GB of dual channel DDR RAM, on a 128 MB Nvidia GeForce 6800 OCR. I ran memtest and I checked my drivers which seem to be up-to-date (81.98 Nvidia, released 2/7/06). Any ideas/suggestions?
P.S. I just checked the core temp as well as the video card temp and it never broke 45 degrees.

Happens to me all the time so I stopped minimazing the whole game, but customizing it so when I press the button to change the window size it only covers half of my desktop.

Press the minimize button on the top right corner instead. Guild Wars does not minmize completely with Alt + Tab.

Also if you have any sound/ media in the background, that can create conflicts with the guild wars clients.

Are you using firefox or did you add any new etensions to firefox recently, leaving firefox open will eat a large amount of system resources and the act of alt + tab may trigger problems due to low resources.

Hmmm...This is one game I never had a problem with Alt-Tabing. then again I haven't tried it since the last update.
Now Civ4 is another story...that crashes everytime I Alt-Tab.

Hmm Ashleigh might have something there, I have run Winamp simultaneously several times, but I've been doing this since I started playing without conflict until the last couple days. RE: Eternal: I have Firefox but I rarely use it in place of Internet Explorer, especially when I'm in the middle of Guild Wars. Anyway I'll try not leaving Winamp or anything else open in the background while I'm playing and use the minimize button instead of alt+tabbing and I'll see if that changes anything.

If you get a windows desktop screen but you are still in the game, what you can do is click on the top right corner so you close guild wars and you should be back on desktop with full control.

Good to know I'm not the only one who has had this problem. For me, it occurs usually if I have an MSN Messenger conversation window open. Instinct of mine to alt+tab, I'll see if minimizing helps.
Another variant on this freezing for me, is that instead of the above happening, the screen and cursor freeze, but I can still hear the sounds playing of the battle I'm in or something. Some other variants exist on that, if I recall.

Well...I use the windows key for most games since its faster than pressing alt+tab and it brings you to your desktop. But as for Guild Wars, I just click the little tab in the upper right hand corner. i usually run Guild Wars (most of the time) in windowed mode so I can switch between pages faster.

Seems i have sort of same matter since last patch.
Each time i alt-tab / minimize or resize GW the game freeze, i mean i'm stil playing but can't get the game up on my screen. All remain is quit and reroll GW to play :/ way boring when trying to join a TS/Vent channel.
If anyone can figure how to fixe that i'll be please to hear.
