Planning on upgrading my laptop
Ok, i have a laptop i got in november -hp pavilion 6100 if that helps, but it only has 512 ram and i want a gig but have no ida about different types of ram, or differences between laptop/pc ram. is there a way to tell what type of motherboard i have, and if i can fit more in there?

Go to www.corsair.com and fill out their "configurator". You'll find you need PC 2700 SODIMMs for your laptop (I think - I chose zv6130us - not sure if that's your exact model).
They then give you links to several on-line retailers where you can purchase corsair memory -- or, if you want, you can use the info they provide to buy a different brand. Remember, you probably have 2 sticks of RAM in your system now, so more than likely you'll have to buy 2x512MB sticks to make that 1GB and sell off the old sticks. |

Knowing HP, they're the same. Since you have a zv6100, I'd only look at zv61xx models. I bet if you look at all of the zv61xx models you'll see they use the same RAM, anyways.
Just make sure the first 2 letters and first 2 numbers match up to your system and you'll be OK. (Don't look at RAM for a dv61xx if you have a zv61xx) |
