Anyone else having a game screen freezing even though you can still fight and do stuff you just cant see it. It just get stuck on one screen then never refreshes......please help if you can...

I did recieve more information from the tech crew at GW and they are looking into the problem so i should get an answer later today. I'll keep you guys updated.

I had the game lock up on me 4 times after the recent update. Also, I was experiencing graphic anomalies in Abaddon's Mouth. I am fairly certain the new update is the cause, as I have not experienced these particular problems with Guild Wars in the past.

I've never run into any problems with Guild Wars, ever.
Download new drivers to your graphiccards at www.omegadrivers.com <-- for nVidia and ATi.

I'm having this problem too. The game just randomly freezes, but I can still hear spells being cast and other sound effects. I'm trying to do stuff in the new areas but I keep having to close GW and restart.

If u have a older GeForce card, or a rubbish one, there are problems with the new drivers and new games. If anything, try reverting to older drivers and see if that helps. I have a GeForce 4000 MX, which sucks btw, and i havw texture problems and occasionally the screen freezes, mostly at the beggining of GvG or HoH battles. It means restarting the PC in order to play GW, as trying to restart GW simply comes up with a error relating to directX 8.

If this sounds similar, do what i am doing and find a new GPU, prefferible a ATI over nVidea, as that is what GW is designed for.

I know Nvidia cards have alot of kinks in them so i got a computer with an ATi card......its really not the card....i think its a glitch in the game just post here if you have the same problem and maybe someone will know how to fix it....errr...I WANT TO PLAY FACTIONS without interruption..

This is happening to me as well. My solution, since I play in Windowed mode, is to minimize the screen and then bring it back up. It's missing the window border, but minimizing and bringing it back up resolves that.

It has only happened in the Factions area.

ok well i guess ill try play it in a windows mode cause fullscreen i tried to minimize and maximize but i didnt do anything hopefully playing it in a windowed screen is the solution.....i hope they fix this soon....thanks a lot Asrial.

I run in windowed mode all the time. I just updated my drivers( my previous ones were only 1 month older). Tested it out, resulted in exact same problem. I do not think it is the driver guys.

Im guessing it could have something to do with it running via direct x 9??

I tried almost everything then i tried the most obvious one as skretth commented on it running on directx9 i went and downloaded the most recent build of direct x and so far it hasnt bugged out on me.....more news to come after I thoroughly test this.

If you think directx9 is causing the problem, try switching back to dx8 mode and see if that solves the problem, as a temporary solution until they roll out a fix anyway.

It was not Direct X 9. There was a recent minor update. It appears they have fixed it. I have no problems with Guild Wars locking up now.

Yeah, late last night (well after the start of the FPE) there was another build released. After the restart I had no more lockup problems.

I'm still having the problems as of tonight. Just random lock ups. It even stops sending a video signal to my monitor....it goes to power down mode. Its really messed up. But was working fine thursday night.

im having the same problem, ive tried all the ideas on here so far except downloading the lates DirectX which im gonna do now, ive lost quite a bit of money through this problem as it keeps freezing be4 i can pick up chest items its frozen around 15 times on me so far.

Ok guys i somehow solved the problem with downloading the most recent version of direct x.....NCsoft guild wars tech team also thinks it has something to do with the direct x 8 and 9 coding or something. So just try and dl the most recent version of direct x. Hope this isnt a problem when the game comes out next month...yes i know its kind of late to be posting the solution since FPE stops in about 10 hours but just posting if anyone was interested.
