Default Monitor Fades to Black

Hey i have a big problem. It started this morning when i couldnt move the mouse to get the picture to come back up so i turned the monitor o9ff and on and it work. Well i went away for the day then came back and i couldnt simply turn it on and off i had to restart the computer. So i was on it for about an hour then it fades back to black. At that point i dont want to deal with it anymore and here i am asking you guys what the problem is.

PS: Im not on the problematic computer (or monitor)

Sounds like your vid card is having problems interacting with your monitor's standby state. Maybe look at getting a better monitor or turn off the standby feature in the power settings, and just manually turn off and on the monitor. Could also be a problem with your vid card not knowing how to power on your monitor if the vid card is out of date, but the monitor fairly new.

Or then the monitor is made by NEC, we have a ton of such monitors here at school, they won't come out of standby unless the computer and the monitor are both turned off. Don't remember which model(s) were affected by that 'bug'

But if the monitor just popped to black while you were using the computer, I'd say the monitor is failing or somesuch. Haven't dealt that much with monitor problems tho.

its not that it wont come out of stand by because i can be sitting there talkin to people (as i was) and all of a sudden it just faded away. The computer wasnt inactive because i was working on it and it just went away.

I would say your monitor is going bad then, I've never had one do that before. And if you turn it off and on the picture comes back? What kind of monitor is this, and what video card are you using?
