Really bad crashing
Randomly I will get a crash report that looks like this.
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/1911/theerror2ui.jpg
Sometimes it won't happen for awhile, sometimes it will happen right when I get on every time, and sometimes it seems to depend on where in the game I am (The wilds and frontier gate seem to be the worst). Under details I get the error details at the bottom of this message. I've been told this is something like "Hexdecimal coding" for a memory dump, but I've also been told only arenanet can tell me what is being dumped.
My specs are:
AMD Anthlon 2800+
120 Gig hard drive, over half is usable
512 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX Integrated GPU
Nothing I do seems to work, sometimes I can't do a mission, because I always get kicked off, so I have to get a friend of mine to do it, and sometimes I can't play, because 5 seconds after I sign off this happens. When it happens, the screen just stops moving, and my real mouse appears, and if I click, this shows up. I've sent over 100 error reports to arenanet, and I've done /bug on this error, three times, and nothing has happened.

ya, this has been happening for w while to me aswell.
I am playing my new monk, in old ascalon, doing a quest to regent vally, I get the henchmen, walk out, and I see a grawl, I go to attack it, I press Tab, then, when I press space, the game crashes. This has happened multiple times tonight, around 10 times. Does anyone know what is going on???????

The exact same problem has been happening to me as well, only since December I have an nVidia MSI 6600GTvideo card, do the other people with the crash have nVidia cards as well? I'v relayed like 30 emails with support, and nothing seems to work.
I have found that my game crashes more during the day than at night..Only thing I can think of is the heat from the day, which isn't as much during the night. I've gotten PCI slot fans, a new VGA heatsink to arrive soon, and soon to order a new cPU heatsink, all hoping to fix the crash problem.

I got that problem quite a lot. Turns out that I needed a BIOS update. I hate BIOS updates, and they're rarely useful, but this one re-programmed something on the CPU to not lock up when using hyper threading.

Im having the same problem... this error mensage really sucks, does anybody have any idea of what the hell is going on? I think its not directx... and i have a X800XT.. so its not a problem with nvidia cards only. I think its a damn bug of the own game, ncsoft should give a better attention to their customers, this is the first and last game i buy from ncsoft... now i really prefer to pay fees instead of getting bored with this kind of errors.

HT = fluff? Then how does a P4-840D EE with HT active (4 virtual CPU's) consistently beat an Athlon X2 4800+ in THG's lab stress tests with multiple apps running concurrently, but only when HT is active?

AMD's memory controller design is the way to go. By integrating their memory controller on the chip dye instead of the north bridge, the performance gains are huge.

I agree that AMD is the better gaming chip since todays games don't really run multi-thread, but there's no need to cloud facts with raw opinion.
MINOR EDIT: To those beisdes the original poster who are encountering this issue, what are your system specs? What CPU?

So...has the array.h crash been fixxed for you guys?
It's still crashing a lot for me :-/
CPU: AMD Athlon XP, 2166 MHz (13 x 167) 3000+
Radeon 9200 Series
Tried lots of different drivers for it, but it gives the array.h or:
memory writing error and exception failure.
blue screens
Also tried re-installing windows 4 times by formatting harddisk. (fresh start)
All doesn't seem to help. Have a huge fan blowing in the pc to cool it down. Asked the support team (who als seem to be clueless).

eh as one person said maybe a bios update. Usually you dont want to update any of your drivers unless you are getting a problem, and you are. You shouldnt going around installing different drivers. Ask someone as there are many what driver you should get for an update.

I've just now started to get the same message, two days before i would just crash tot he desktop and it would say nothing. Now it crashes me and gives me that message from the first post.
I'm hoping that this is from the recent patch, because i'm getting damn tired of doing Iron Mines of Moladune over and over and over again.

|
Lol...it does exist, all HT technology does is allow a processor to limit the resources that
a lower priority application uses, effectively freeing up for other applications that could
better use it. In theory this works well, and in application it can. For example, in the Intel
world:
single core w/o HT vs single w/ HT = similar to same performance w/ single applications
though with multi-threaded applications or with more applications the processor w/o HT
will lose out.
dual core w/o ht can lose to dual core w/ HT technology, as it in theory allows the two cores to compensate
for lack of coding that should allow for this to happen naturally.
In essence all it does is compensate for the lack of original code to tell where to spend system resources, to
basically give higher priority applications more processing power.
In Doze this works, at times, well. Though in Linux the gains are less striking on average, as it has and most
likely will remain the multitasking king, as it enables better use of system resources, aswell as is generally less taxing
on the system at large. Oh yeah, and being an AMD user, I can assure you that multi-threading is indeed real, lol. I believe
that you got your terminology wrong on that one.
Quote:

Processors process data as it comes through, it is the operating system's job to tell which coding should be processed where. A lack
of optimization in a certain aspect of coding can create issues with how system resources are distributed. HT tries to help that problem
by limiting the use of certain applications and expanding upon the resources of others. Effectively making certain processes smoother.
This is one of the reason why HT fails to an actual dual cored CPU, as it is a good deal less efficient than a second physical core.

Hypertransport is a Dual Processor System...
|
Correct in some points, wrong in others. Hyperthread technology and Hypertransport are nowhere near the same thing, and as such
should not even be remotely compared. Hypertransport replaces the FSB, and allows the CPU to better connect to each individual
part of the system, with alot less delay. Hyperthreading is the use of a logical core to distribute system resources and help in multi
process processing.
Oh yeah, AMD isn't the only one who uses this technology.

Not to discredit you here, as you made some valid points, but Tom's is notorious for Intel fanboyism. P4-840D EE has 2 physical cores, and essentially 2 logical cores. The reason it wins is
because Doze isn't really all that good at distributing system resources, so the two logical cores are able to decide where things go, and the others can act upon it helping the others when necessary
as well as processing all the other applications you don't see. The AMD on the other hand must do this with two cores, and no logical ones. Though Hypertransport allows this to be done, in a more efficient way
which is why Hypertransport > Hyperthreading, even though the two aren't all that alike.

I agree that AMD is the better gaming chip since todays games don't really run multi-thread

This is nowhere near the only reason, in games a dual core AMD (as of now w/o factoring Conroe generation) w/ Hypertransport
would rape the Intel, as it can access the system resources like RAM much faster. This is especially evident in any game that is optimized
for multi-threading support.
This is all based on what I have learned, and information that I have looked up during the course of these events. I had to put my $0.02 in here though, as I didn't feel either of you cleared up that issue well. I may be wrong on certain aspects, as I honestly do not know as much as I would like to about the inner workings of a CPU, or the logical workings of one.
