iTunes + Guild Wars?
Whenver I try to play anything in iTunes while GW is open the song does this "skippy/static" thing...
windows media player works fine with gw open, itunes works fine with gw closed
ive tried to turn all the sound options all the way down on gw ... dosent work
any idea how i can fix this problem?

Best solution... Dont use iTunes... But If you must... I dont know what would be wrong.

I have the same problem before, and sometimes even the Media Player has the same problem.
But I found that if you minimize the sound quality, the iTunes can work probably.
It should be the problem of the sound card.

better sound card
possibly faster chip
It happens to me all the time when I'm loading a map. It happens with TeamSpeak and Winamp. And I am in serious need of a better sound card and chip.

On my system, I turn off in-game music, raise sound effects, set sound quality to medium, and run Winamp 5. WA5 is still a bit of a resource hog, so I'd reccomend going back to version 2, or using one of the other low-memory usage players. Plus, you have to purchase version 5 of winamp...
