delete gw.dat (or re-name it) -- Guild Wars will then have to re-download the content whenever you join a map for the first time, but the message should go away..

it seems that your Gw.dat file is corrupted in some way.

I'm having the same issue. I frequently get this message once a week. How does the file get corrupted so often? Can I just reinstall GW + GW Factions considering that the current .dat file is 1.7 GB and would take awhile to download?

Game doesn't download all 1.7GB at once, you are able to play around the 300mb mark, but in any case it's a lot to download.

Just install the game from the CDs if you have them, and download the updates on top of that.

If it keeps corrupting even after that, I'd check the Event Log (Start menu -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer), and if there are a lot of red X's around in "System" portion. Also running a hard drive diagnostic program might be good Tho, I'd assume memory failures / CPU failures would result in the corruption too, tho those errors would show more as random crashing etc

This error tends to occur with bad memory.

Run memtest (http://www.memtest86.com/) and see if you memory passes. If it doesn't you will know why you're having issues.
