Loud, annoying sounds.
I don't have too much time right now, so I'll have to make this quick.
Whenever I go to a new area, after it(If needed) downloads and decompresses everything, it makes really loud sounds, like a torches SFX, or just a loud blare. After it loads, it's fine.
Another thing is sometimes, when I'm walking through an area, I'll hear a sound like.. uhh.. Like two w/ fighting. Like, the sword FX.. But, it's broken up, like statiky.. No idea why.. It does this even if no one's around.
I turned off the SFX on GW, and it fixed the first, but not the second.. I would like my SFX back, though. <_<
Any ideas?
I have a GeForce 6800, AMD 3000+, 1 gig of RAM..
I've never had this problem before. It just started.. Ohh.. Two weeks ago? Three?
I have both GW.

Make sure the hardware acceleration (in the Sounds part of Control Panel) for your sound card is set to at least Basic Acceleration (the lowest level, Emulation, causes problems) and make sure the Sound Quality slider in GW is set at the center or lower, should take care of it. If not, check for new drivers for your soundcard, and get the june version of directx9 from microsoft, since that fixes sound problems sometimes too.

I doubt it's my sound card, as no other game or sound or any type of music does this. At all.
I have the newest DX, so that can't be it.
Also, I was mistaken. I had to turn down my background volume, no the sound effects.
And other ideas?

Like ducktape said, put the quality slider at the middle position on your options menu. You have to exit and restart the game after doing so. Anything higher that middle position results in buggy sound effects.

Ohh, sorry ducktape, I missed that. <_<;
But yeah, that fixed it. Thanks a lot, all.

Yeah, I have a similar sound issue, where I can hear Fires from torches really loud and imps sound terribile.... It did work to an advantage in GvG though because I could hear every gate on the map being opened.....
that and the problem that I couldn't hear my sword swipe noises!!!!!
