Video/drivers/Windows updates...aw, crap!
*sighs*Spent all day going round-and-round on this...
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ proc
MSI 6600GT Vidcard
1 Gig RAM
550W power sup
running Win XP Home Ed SP2
twin Seagate 80GB set in RAID (mirrored array)
Problem: 2 weeks ago started with random freezing and eventually lead to blue error script and crashes, I narrowed it down to video drivers as the likely issue... I updated windows and ended up with "pong" sound effects with the GW ambient sounds (a lot of random beeping...aweful racket)...I tried system restore to get back before the changes...no luck...still unplayable. Been through 5 sets of drivers ( rolled back to pre-buggered NVidia drivers), every conceivable registry cleaner and maintainance protocol and finally settled on uninstalling GW alltogether...PORTS are open and firewall is off...Norton is set to stun, pop-ups are allowed, viruses and spywar eliminated, defragged by 3 different utilities, repaired my installation of Windows, and I still can't stay connected past 29% of the some 9000+ files needing to be downloaded after i sigh in...12 hours and I'm sick of even trying anymore...someone have any suggestions...I'm impatient when it comes to the whole e-mail and wait system in place for ANet...ticket is in....but I hate to wait...read through forums...sounds like a lot of problems out there...not sure if any are related...If you have any clue...throw me a frickin' bone, huh?
EDIT: NO CLUE WHAT HAPPENED...HOURS OF TRYING - DID NOTHING DIFFERENT AND NOW IT WORKS ...sooooo...NVM I guess. Bastages at ANet are messing with me....
