I have Verizon DSL and there are two computers in my house: my mom's and my own. Mine happens to access the internet through a wireless router (Netgear WGR614 v6 and I use a Linksys wireless desktop card). My problem is that everytime someone answers a phone in my house- my connection interrupts and I 007. I understand that sometimes if you use a cordless phone that uses the same frequency as the router, it will disrupt the connection but the wall phone does it as well. I have all the DSL filters plugged in the outlets around the house and I can't figure out how to fix this. Any suggestions?

See if it's the router, first of all. Try running a cable directly from the router to your PC, and then a cable from your modem directly to your PC. If doing that doesn't isolate the router as the problem, try feeding the DSL modem from different telephone jacks in your home. If none of that works, call Verizon (and I pity you from that point...)

First, try unplugging each phone indivudially, from the wall jack and all. Then test the connection and see if it drops for each one. After doing this, if you find out that one phone is the problem, first, buy a new filter (available at radio shack for about $10-$15). Then if this doesnt fix it, just unplug the phone and keep it unplugged if you can.

Ive had the same problem in the past, and once i kept my phone in my room unplugged, the problem went away. I know this isnt the ideal sollution, but it's really the only one I know of.

**If you cant do any of this, just call verizon, and before they even start talking to you, tell them that your very experienced with computers. (they assume everyone has as much computer knowledge as a stapler)

Yes, it's usually boils down to one jack or phone that causes dsl interruption. I used to get it a lot when i had dsl. Annoying...

A lot of times you can goto your router's setup http://192.168.1.1 and change your wireless frenquency. That should fix your problem with little effort or cost on your part.

NetGEAR and Linksys are both the "Wal-mart" brand routers. They're cheap and cause more issues than they're worth.

From what you described it sounds like you have issues with noise on the line. Unplug every phone in your house from the wall outlets and leave them unplugged for 30 seconds to 1 minute. This often cures issues such as noise on the line and other common issues. This tip even comes from the phone companies. :P
