Just for information i use an Nvidia card(Geforce FX 5950 Ultra 256MB)and use the driver 78.01 for Guild Wars factions.

Dont know if ive been lucky, but the game has run without any problems since day one.

hello iv found out that if you turn al oyur music on low and put all ur options on low gw runs as smooth as silk try it dudes it'll work for you!.

Reviving this thread.

I just bought a brand new, professionally built PC with all current drivers and factory settings. It has a NVIDIA GE Force 7900 GT with driver version 91.31.

Would I be reading this thread if there wasn't problems? No...

It isn't working. I specced all the Guild Wars sound & video all to lowest possible settings, and that fixed the crashing.

However there are several problems still, including problems with a blue screen closing Guild Wars, problems with a blue screen starting Guild Wars, and problems in game with things appearing as a white box. All this and I have to play on the lowest settings. I wish I had my old ATI Radeon card...

I installed other driver versions and it caused problems. Going to try again with the driver cleaner too.

Many many people are having problems with 7900 cards for the past couple of months.

Yeah, you may have gotten one of the bad 7900GT's. You should run some 3DMark, some rthdribl, and if you're still getting crashes, RMA the card. I'm lucky, 2 months trouble-free so far. Of course, I'll go home in the morning and my card will be dead, just because I said that...

EDIT: I ended up returning my brand new pc because it couldn't run guild wars. I blame the card. The driver was only a temporary fix. One of the RAM memory sticks was bad, but even after removing it the game crashed, and I believe the vid card was responsible for destroying the ram.

When guild wars crashes theres more at play than just the vid card and drivers..need to run memory tests, although it could be hopeless until ANET fixes the problem.

I don't really know that much about computer terminology but one thing i do know is the word "bugger". I use it frequently when, as we say in the guild, i d/c. It isn't really a disconection but GW crashes and an error screen comes up. Also the computer occasionly reboots itself saying there was an error with my video card. It is a new card and i dont know what to do. I would appriciate some help.

I have the 91.31 drivers installed and my game keeps crashing in mid game at random times. It screws up the entire screen with just a garbled mess of colored lines. I've tried reverting to as many other forceware drivers as i could find down until the 71 versions. The earlier versions just collapse giving me an error message on the desktop, the versions past 90 just garble up the screen and lock everything up...

How the hell am i gonna enjoy this game if i can only finish a mission if i'm lucky enough not to crash......*sighs*

My videocard is a GT6800

Thats basically what happens with mine...error on the desktop...I was lucky to be able to do The Wayward Monk.

Ok, my problem seems solved now, after lot's of trial and error. The solution (or so it seems) in my case was either of those below:

- I upgraded my Asus a7n8x2.0 deluxe motherboard from version 1006 to 1007
- I upped my APG vidcard (GT6800) voltage by 1 tenth

Personally I think it was the latter, as I'm pretty certain it had to do with my vidcard. It didn't show this psychadelic pixel chaos for nuthin! So try and up the voltage just by one tenth (if you haven't already done so, and have an AGP card to begin with :-P).
I finally finished a mission last night while all sorts of programs, including my virusscanner were happilly doing their things in the background :-)

oh, and of course i am back on the latest driver set too!! Since that wasn't the issue here.

Had this problem. Closing the game was causing the PC to hang up, retuning bluescreen, saying something about nv4_disp.dll. I have GF6600, at the time I had Forceware 77.71 installed. I downgraded to 71.89 and the game crashes no more.

(BTW. does someone here have PC connected to TV set?)

Unfortunately mine crashes just as the login screen loads up, and unfortunately NCSoft Support has failed to notify me of this after 7 days of support. Hopefully this fixes the problem.

I found for my Geforce FX 5700 Ultra the 84.26 Quadro drivers worked best.. and despite being a "quadro" driver it has microsoft WHQL certifed drivers for the FX 5700 Ultra and they are newer then the last officiel nvidia 84.21 (8x series) which only had NON-WHQL drivers for the FX 5700 Ultra.

No on my newer Geforce 7600 GT the current 91.31 seem to work as advertised on GW & Oblivion.

Ati driver are more senstive to "upgrades" with out removing then nvidia drivers from my personal expericence.. but this isn't to say I've not seen any issues with Geforce drivers messing up stuff that cleaning up and removing fixed.

LOL. i got a 6800 GT as well, comp keep freezes in mid game. Where can i find those older driver updates that work??? idk much about computers.

NEVER say that when you are talking about a driver.
Drivers fix all kinds of bugs.

There are little bugs that you maybe don't even know.
But driver updates fix it.

Without driver updates your pc is NOT SECURE!
Spyware and virusses use these little bugs to access
the protected areas inside your windows system.

Always install the lastest official drivers.
