Default Growing fed up with no sound

Ever since the last patch, I've been forced to run GW with -nosound if I want to even get it running at all. Otherwise I get this same old twin errors about memory read/write failure.

I've run memory tests with no errors, I've switched the RAM around in their slots, I've updated all my drivers, I've played around with my BIOS settings, and I've approached support who has so far yet to give any reply as to whether this is being looked into at all.

And now, I've bought a new sound card, and it still doesn't work.

I've done tons of thread searches all over the place and found out that some had similar problems even before the last patch. But in my case, I couldn't even get to enter the game at all if I don't disable the sound.

All I want to know is if anyone else has been experiencing this since the last update, because if so it means 'they' did something that broke the audio further. I'm sorry, but GW was running fine on my system like a day before the patch and now this? I don't think I'm making groundless claims.

Part of the log, if anyone finds it useful:

Have you actually tried just running with one stick in the machine?

I'm going to assume you're running XP as I can't see mention of OS (if I'm missing that, just slap me ). Have you tried a system restore to prior to when the problem occurred?

A quick(ish) and dirty test if you've got the tools would be to image your system partition using ghost/drive image/other 3rd party software, and just do a basic install of Windows back on the machine with sound drivers. Shouldn't take much more than 1/2 hour or so on a decent machine for that, and you can always restore the image if it makes no difference.
