Banned For Name Angelic Barbie
A friend of mine was banned for Guild Wars for the name "Angelic Barbie"... Does this sound offensive to anyone here??? Just wondering... Angels and Barbie Dolls... Doesn't sound very offensive to me... The sad part is she suffers from depression and is crying her eye out about loosing all the items she has worked hard to get... She tells me she tried to send emails to the support group but just gets some lame response that they will look into it in a week or so... In the the mean time she is just out of luck... Well it's a sad day when the makers of a game that want people to buy copy after copy of a game (How much money are they making?) treat good desent people people this way... BTW... Speaking of making money... They really should spend some of that money on new servers... The lag is really bad now... They can make excuses all day long but I'm a computer systems engineer and I can tell you they are either overloading the their systems or they have some really crappy code... It's hard to say because a software developmet company a lot of times just puts out crappy code to get a product to market... This lets them say "WoooHooo look what we delivered, now give us money"... Crappy support and crappy code actually makes money for someone... Believe it or not... Anyway, I'm starting to ramble and I'm sorry... It just really makes me mad that my friend was banned for a nick like Angelic Barbie when I was in a group the other day with a person who's nick was "Knee Grow"... <eye roll> Thanks for letting me vent...

Only thing i can think of is that ANet is looking out for their own arses when they saw that their is an "Angelic Barbie" released by Mattel. Other than that, it may be something else

As far as I know, the policy in cases of "offensive names" is not deleting character or banning it forever. Ban is temporary, and after that your friend will have to change her character's name using a special feature (at least that's what's written on plaync.com KB.
Maybe they felt it's trademarked.... Best wishes for your friend. |

IT IS ALWAYS A FRIEND FOR A TINY INFRACTION ISNT IT?
first they do not perma ban for a first offence bad name. second they dont say they will get back in a week or so. third.........SOME MOD CLOSE THIS also they give a number of hours if not a permaban |

he starts with a sob story that is complete bs as Anet does not permaban for a first offensive/inappropriate name offence. second he trots out his expert credentials saying they should get new upgraded servers without checking and finding out that they actually did a major server upgrade recently. if he wanted help he would have replied to customer service that it was not settled instead of going on a server rant here. |
