Bad Fps, Bad/Slow Texture loading since the release of Nightfall. HELP!
Ive noticed that alot of people have been lagging because of nightfall.
But the thing is Ive asked friends and they say they are perfectly fine, no lag.
My problem is that ive been playing guild wars since Ch.1. Ive been perfectly fine, but since ive got nightfall ive been getting bad texture quality, they would load up slow. (Like the texture would go to crap quality, then go back to normal after a bit). Ive also been getting really bad lag at certain times, and its really hard to play Nightfall.
My vid card isnt that good (and i know they uped the min. req. for Nightfall).
Im wondering if any else is expierancing this problem, if you are please help.
I also defragged my gw.dat file and stuff. The size of it right now is about 2.7g.

It's a bug, a ton of people are getting this. I'm afraid you have to find yourself another game for a while.

Well you are probably just overpowering your gfx card. With my 64mb integrated gfx card I was forced into min detail fro a playable NF. But today I got a new Inno3d nVidia GeForce 7600 GS 256mb card, and now I run it on max detail smoothly and fluidly... with lots of shiny stoofs!!!

You may try the defrag thingy from the other threads, but I doubt it'll work. As I've said before, this is a software bug- for me, the game runs almost fine for some time and then it gets choppy. Restarting it usually "fixes" the problem for another 15 minutes.

Yes P.I.E, very yes.
I'm running on an X1900XTX + PXE/+HT and am getting 7-10FPS, with repeated err-07s. So its definately not hardware related, something's screwy in GW's code. I notice it ALWAYS sets itself to low process priority for one thing, and there's no way to change that, it seems. :/

I seem to have fixed some of the low fps by lowering my sound quality in GW, now run 20-35fps on average, but its still pretty low. I used to run at about 40-60ish fps.
Sometimes, in big active towns i would get a very low fps of about 8-15fps on average.

with the low priority thing i also have it so at times it takes forever to decompress map loading.
But then i found this only happens in full screen mode so if i run the game in a window my decompress is super fast as it should be with my system also ive found that a few people i know have a similar problem due to a conflict with teamspeak and have found running without ts fine yet annoying...

I am lagging too, but in all cities and continents, getitng 0 fps during the 5 min loading of a map, then 1 fps for a minute until I can move, which is literally a slide show, once I go into mission with hench, its almost playable though..

I'm getting the same problem too. Guild Wars ran fine when Nightfall wasn't out yet. Now I'm getting these computer lag spikes when something new comes up on the screen. I was using -perf on the shortcut to check out the stats and it seems my Bytes/Sec goes down each time I get those spikes. My FPS is fine, I even bought a new video card too.
This happens everywhere, in town and not in town.

X800 XTPE, no problems whatsoever with NF. There is a lower fps in crowded towns compared with Prophecies/Factions, but not noticeable to the naked eye.
