my first question is WHY did u buy a mac? IMO they are not as useful as PC but i guess they do have the multimedia programs that come along with them.
im not positive but i dont think they have a mac version of the game nor do they have a mod to run it however, you could always attempt to DL a pc emulator but GL with that...

The first thing you should know is that Parallels will not run Guild Wars. You will either need to run Boot Camp or Wine. Wine is the free option, and with the new update it's supposed to work quite well. I'll dig up some links to guide you through that, and edit this post. Don't believe people when they say you should just return it, they don't know what they're talking about.

As far as compatibility goes, your best bet is to run in Boot Camp. I cannot stress enough, Guild Wars will not work in Parallels. Parallels has no 3D acceleration. Boot Camp is just a boot loader that will allow Windows to run on your Mac, complete with video drivers and no Mac OS. If that's what you want to do.

Parallels has no 3D acceleration. Guild Wars requires 3D acceleration. At best, you will get 2 fps. At worst, you will get a blue screen.
If you want to run Guild Wars in a window, Wine is your best bet.

Wine is a pretty unique program. It's sort of a standalone program. What it does is intercepts all the commands that a Windows program sends out, and translates them into something OSX (or Linux, or BSD, or whatever) can understand. It's basically "emulating" the fact that there is a Windows computer running, when in fact there isn't.
edit: Oh, and Wine is totally free. There are some catches, though. You'll mostly be on your own for setup and support, and it's not anything close to a Mac-like user experience. If you're not comfortable wading around in config files and command lines, just wait for your copy of XP and use Boot Camp.

You don't want the Software Development Kit, you want the binary release of the client, from this link.
Sadly, after that point, you're going to be on your own. I don't own an Intel Mac, and have never seen Darwine install. If you need some help, I would suggest #macintosh on the DALnet IRC network. They've always been helpful to me, they should be willing to help you. As long as you ask nicely, of course.

I'll do the best I can, and I hope you post back your results! I am planning to buy a Mac soon, it would be excellent to know if I could get Guild Wars working on it.

Hey, wow, what a bunch of jerks.
Parallels will not run Guild Wars, very well
2fps LOL!!!
Use Bootcamp, Its free for now and it is fantastic. Dont void your apple care by installing some weird program. Use the Beta..
TRUST ME!!! IT WORKS FOR ME!!
Dont try to help people when you DONT know what your talking about. I have a macbook and im running nightfall right now.
Im running Mac OS 10.4.7 with XP SP2 installed and I can help you out in any way possible, I have sucessfuly done bootcamp on 10 diffrent computers and I use guild wars nightfall. One thing that you have to watch out for there are some compatibility issues with bootcamp and not using full screen mode.. It does a BSOD when ever a mission starts.

I managed to get Guild Wars runnign under Wine on linux a few weeks ago.. but that was quite hard work. Besides now it's supposed to work wuite well.
Also, WINE (= Wine Is Not an Emulator) isn't an emulator, unlike what was stated above. It's an API that can handle windows requests on other OSs, mainly Linux.
